A special thanks to Michelle Power, UCC Quercus talented students programme scholarship who came to the college and gave the boys a detailed insight into the application process as well as what its like to be a Quercus student.
Thanks also to past pupil Michael Bradley UCC rugby, for his insight into what college rugby entails and the requirements placed on students.
Congratulations to Past Pupil, Peter O'Mahony, who has been named as Ireland captain for the upcoming Six Nations.
Peter has 101 Ireland caps to date and we look forward to him adding to this number!
All in Pres. are very proud of Peter's appointment to the role of Captain and we wish Peter, and all the Ireland team, the very best of luck in the upcoming Six Nations.
Come on Ireland!!
Our 6th Year English students listened to a fascinating talk about pursuing your passion from former Presboy, Ali Khan, class of 2009, in the theatre yesterday before engaging in a very interesting Q and A session.
Ali studied dentistry in UCC, went on to work as a dental surgeon in Cambridge and in the Children's Hospital Ireland, Crumlin before establishing his private practice in Dublin all the while pursuing an MBA in Trinity College Dublin. He then sold his practice and attended Oxford University for a year, qualifying with an MSc in Global Governance and Diplomacy. While at college he wrote an algorithm and founded an Investment Fund, AK Holdings which he now oversees on a part time basis while he pursues his true passion in life - acting and writing. He is on the Gaisce Council (Board of Directors) having won a GAisce Gold Award in 2016. His podcast about inspiration, 'Things That Move Me' is streaming now.
Ali memorably played Gar Private in the Pres school production of 'Philadelphia Here I Come' in 2008. That inital buzz and thrill of being on stage never left him and he outlined the eclectic and riveting path his life has followed since leaving Pres to eventually realising that the thespian life was the only life for him. Ali also recorded an interview with the PBC Podcast crew - that will be available soon on episode 2.
Thanks once again to Ali for coming in and to the 6th Years for making the talk such a success.

Congratulations to Past Pupil Cillian Murphy on winning the Golden Globe for best actor in a motion picture – drama for his starring role in Christopher Nolan’s “Oppenheimer,” in which he plays the J. Robert Oppenheimer, the “father of the atomic bomb.”
This marks Cillian Murphy’s first win and second nod in his career, after he was previously nominated for his role in the comedy/thriller film “Breakfast on Pluto” in 2006.
All in Pres. are very proud of Cillian's achievements to date and wish Cillian the very best in his future career.
Transition Year Students James Power and Cathal Cross recently attended the Student Enterprise Christmas Market organised by Student Enterprise Ireland at the Marina Market.
The boys competed against other Transitions Year Students from various schools in Cork city. They sold products through their mini company ‘Vida Nova’, which is an environmentally friendly soap company, with their soap bars being handmade by the boys. They were successful in achieving an award for ‘Most Sustainable Product’ despite the stiff competition.
Thanks to Student Enterprise Ireland for the opportunity and to Mr. Breen for the support and encouragement. The Boys would also like to give a big thanks to The Imperial Hotel and The Hayfield Manor for their help.
We are excited to see how the team will fair in the County Finals in February. Well done boys!
Huge thanks to all our sponsors for giving so generously and supporting Preslink.
All funds raised from the Christmas raffle, as with all Preslink funds, go directly to supporting Presentation Brothers educational and community projects in West Africa.
Congratulations to the prize winners.
To all those who supported, thank you for your generosity and support.

The annual opening of the S.H.A.R.E Christmas Crib was a very memorable occasion for the S.H.A.R.E student executives.
This year, the S.H.A.R.E executive committee has twenty 5th year students on the committee who all attended on the night. Pictures were taken, speeches from Chairman Andrew Maume (5th year) , Lord Mayor of Cork, Cllr. Kieran McCarthy and Mairead Moore (CKSS) were heard.
That was followed by both bishops of Cork, Bishop Finton Gavin and Bishop Paul Colton sharing a blessing for the crib.
The army band also contributed to the occasion with some excellent music. It was a very special and memorable night for all present.
A huge thank you to everyone who attended!
Please remember to donate if you see the famous yellow jackets in town. Your support is greatly appreciated.
Show you care this Christmas
