All our Transition Year students recently spent a half day on the streets of our city collecting for the Mercy Hospital Foundation.
As all of our Transition Year students were busy again, this time walking in Killarney National Park, we had to get 5th Yr. students to step in for a picture with Louise O'Brien from the Mercy Hospital Foundation when she visited our school to receive a cheque on behalf of the Mercy Hospital.
Photo shows L - R Cillian Murphy, Sebastian Wiseman, Louise O'Brien (Mercy Hospital Fooundation), Fiachra Wall and Michael Dan Lucey.
Class of 2023
Congratulations to the Visual art class of 2023 on creating some of the finest works of Art in Junior cycle for a number of years. Art is alive and a relevant aspect in the school community in PBC. “We live in a visual world”.
“Every child is an artist; the problem is staying an artist when you grow up” – Pablo Picasso
This year marked the third year of the new visual art course and PBC has set a very high standard. This was evident in the marks award by the SEC. Special mention for Liam Fitzgerald for his highly commended work.
Please enjoy a selection of artwork from the JCT visual art class of 2023. Included in the Gallery are; sketchbook works, and Final artefacts submitted for the junior certificate examinations. These include multiple disciplines such as; Graphic Design, Imaginative compositions and Lino block printmaking. While some readers might be familiar with graphic design and imaginative compositional artwork, Lino Printing is a form of block printing that involves carving a pattern or design into a linoleum block and takes great skill and patience.
Please see a piece of work created by Ruan Barret Crean (class of 2023) in the gallery attached.
Well done to all our Art students for their hard work during the year!

Tuesday, 21st of November, Presentation Day, all first years set off on a 7 kilometre walk. The walk was made possible by the peer mentors, prefects, teachers and the Preslink committee so we would like to thank them. We left the school at 13:25 and returned at 15:00. It was a very enjoyable walk on a lovely day.
The walk began at Pres we went through Fitzgeralds park continued past the Mardyke and walked through the Lee fields. Senior students set up checkpoints along the way. We came back the straight road turned back into the park at the Kingsley hotel and walked back to Pres. the walk was a great opportunity to raise funds for preslink.
Preslink is an organisation run by the students and teachers in Pres. it helps Presentation Brothers schools in Ghana and Nigeria by providing funding to schools who lack the resources to create the best possible educational environment.
The Preslink walk was not only great fun but it was also for a good cause. Altogether, we raised €2,529.75
