Big News! Finding Cillian has been selected for the First Cut Film Festival!
This marks our 4th consecutive year in the competition, and our school couldn’t be more excited.
A huge shoutout to director Michael Scott and the amazing Film Studies students from last year’s T.Y. group.
This is a huge win for the entire team, well done to all involved! Included are some stills from the film.
We look forward to sharing the film after the Competition in March.
Special thanks to Mr. Brian Casey for all his work with the Film Studies module in Transition Year.
Recently five of our students attended the Davis College Model United Nations. Our students, Tadgh O’Connor, Cian O’Mahony, Leon Murphy, Rua MacSweeny and Ronan McCarthy, are all members of Pres. Debating Society.
Model United Nations is an event in which young people act as “delegates” from certain countries, such as Russia or the United States. They then participate in a series of debates with other “delegates” representing other countries, who act in that country’s interest. They discuss important issues related to world events and current affairs affecting people today.
Tadgh acted as the delegate of Iraq in the Special conference and debated topics such as IVF and Fossil Fuel consumption. The Conference was very enjoyable, with both serious work and light hearted fun, such as the attempted reformation of the Soviet Union (twice), or the proposal to clone Donald Trump.
Our students would recommend DCMUN to anyone interested in politics, acting or TY’s as it is both an educational and enjoyable experience.
It was certainly a week to remember!
Congratulations to our Junior B rugby squad on winning the Kidney Cup at Musgrave Park against local rivals C.B.C. on a scoreline of 24 - 20.
Well done to all the players and their coaches on this great victory!
This week, our 1st-year students successfully completed heart dissections, exploring the structure of the heart and its major blood vessels. This hands-on experience deepened their understanding of the circulatory system, allowing them to actively engage with their learning. Well done to all the students for their enthusiasm and curiosity!
The lovely and intimate setting of the College Library provided the canvas for our talented musicians to express themselves in January’s Lunchtime Concert.
Michael Scott again showed his raw talent with a stunning, self penned piece rich with lyrical emotion.
Michael Dan Lucey electrified the room with his dexterity of play on the Fender Stratocaster and lastly, Robbie Labowicz enchanted the audience with his evocative interpretation of a Chopin classic.
A spellbound audience were again treated to a feast of talent all eloquently tied together by our very capable resident Master of Ceremonies, 6th Yr. student Ruairí Ó Donnchadha.
Well done to all!
We look forward to the next showcasing in February.
Congratulations to our cross-country runners who had great success at the south Munsters.
Conor Graham from first year came top ten in the minors!!
The junior team came 1st overall, qualifying for the Munsters with Eoghan Looney coming 4th despite running an age up!! Euan Wolfe came 6th, another great result.
The intermediate team came 3rd overall, and in doing so qualified for the Munsters with Andrew Hinds coming 3rd and Conor Looney coming 9th.
Some great team and individual performances. Well done to all who took part!
We wish our runners the very best of luck as they prepare for the Munsters.
Congratulations to the Presentation Brothers College Chess Team who won the Cork county Post-Primary Chess Competition, held in SMA Wilton.
The Pres. chess team consisted of four 1st Yr. students. This was an amazing achievement considering all the other schools had older students, some even from 5th Yr.!!
This was a great result for Pres. Chess and all in Pres. are very proud of our young team's achievement. We look forward to more success over the next five years from these young Chess players - no pressure!!!
