The Art Department and the Green Schools Committee have come together to plant some greenery in the area next to the Hub. It is a work in progress with plans for a mural, bird feeder and bug hotel still to be added. We hope it will be a welcoming space for both staff and students in future. A special thank you to Ms. Nora Walsh and the Green Schools Committee who gave up their time to bring this to life. A thank you also to Management and Mr. Jordan for their support with this too. We hope it will promote Biodiversity in Pres.

All home safely from the 5th Year Ski Tour, everyone had a great time and the students were a pleasure to accompany. Very busy days with up to 8 hours of skiing a day for some! The positive attitudes and determination to keep going despite being tired meant they all made the most of the week and learned a new skill. We had 3 birthday boys this week as well so we had to celebrate them too! A special mention to Mr. Peter Scott who organises these trips so well, and ensures that they run smoothly so everyone is safe and happy.

Big News! Finding Cillian has been selected for the First Cut Film Festival!

This marks our 4th consecutive year in the competition, and our school couldn’t be more excited.

A huge shoutout to director Michael Scott and the amazing Film Studies students from last year’s T.Y. group.

This is a huge win for the entire team, well done to all involved! Included are some stills from the film.

We look forward to sharing the film after the Competition in March.

Special thanks to Mr. Brian Casey for all his work with the Film Studies module in Transition Year.

Pres. students participate in Model U.N.

Recently five of our students attended the Davis College Model United Nations. Our students, Tadgh O’Connor, Cian O’Mahony, Leon Murphy, Rua MacSweeny and Ronan McCarthy, are all members of Pres. Debating Society.

Model United Nations is an event in which young people act as “delegates” from certain countries, such as Russia or the United States. They then participate in a series of debates with other “delegates” representing other countries, who act in that country’s interest. They discuss important issues related to world events and current affairs affecting people today.

Tadgh acted as the delegate of Iraq in the Special conference and debated topics such as IVF and Fossil Fuel consumption. The Conference was very enjoyable, with both serious work and light hearted fun, such as the attempted reformation of the Soviet Union (twice), or the proposal to clone Donald Trump.

Our students would recommend DCMUN to anyone interested in politics, acting or TY’s as it is both an educational and enjoyable experience.

It was certainly a week to remember!

This hands-on experience deepened their understanding of the circulatory system, allowing them to actively engage with their learning. Well done to all the students for their enthusiasm and curiosity!
