First Year Footballers are Leinster Champs!
Created : 30 Mar 2023, 6:10 PM
Archived : 30 May 2023, 12:00 AM
Massive congratulations to our First Year Footballers on claiming the Leinster B title after defeating Cnoc Mhuire Granard Longford today on a score line of 2-11 to 3-7 in what proved to be a cracking game.
The half time score was 2-5 to 1-4 with Longford claiming the lead at the break but the CBS came out into the second half with all guns blazing and pulled the game back to a draw. It was point for point for the final quarter and in the dying minutes in what could only be described as dramatic fashion, David Timmons kicked a point to put the CBS ahead. The ref deemed there was time for one last attack from Cnoc Mhuire and a goal chance arose but CBS full back, Jack Dowling cleared the ball off the line! Within seconds the final whistle blew and the CBS had won the game.
We are so proud of our First Years and their achievements this year, the future is bright for football in the school and we are already looking forward to seeing how they progress next year.
Congratulations again to each and every panel member and their coaches Mr. Brennan and Ms. Hyland. Those 7.30am Friday morning trainings were worth it! Finally, thank you to their parents for getting them there.
Scorers - Jayden Murphy (1-3), David Timmons (0-4), Shane Carroll (1-0), Callum Devoy (0-2), Leon Davis (0-1).
Huge team performance from every player on the pitch, well done boys. CBS Abú!
