U-16 and U-19 Basketball

Our U16 Basketball Team beat Rathangan in the Semi final on Monday 25th November. This takes them to the U16 Finals which will be played on Friday 2nd December when they will play De La Salle, Waterford at 11.30. The U19's beat Portarlington on the same day and will play Newbridge in the Finals on Friday at 1pm. Both matches will be played in St Mary's Hall Dublin Road Portlaoise.

Congratulations to our U16 and U19 Basketball teams on winning their respective Semi Finals on Monday. Finals Our U16s take on De La Salle of Waterford on Friday 2nd in St. Mary's Hall @11:30 Our U19s take on Newbridge on Friday 2nd in St. Mary's Hall @1:00 Best of luck to all involved.

STUDY SKILLS WORKSHOPS FOR EXAM CLASSES

On Tuesday and Wednesday, 13th - 14th December, 6th Years will attend Study Skills Workshops with Michael Bond who presents these workshops to schools all over the country. Each session will be 2 hours long. There will also be one follow up class after the Mock Exams with each group. On Wed and Thurs January 25th - 26th the 3rd Years will have the same workshops and the same follow up after the Mocks. On Wednesday evening, 25th January at 7.30, the parents of all exam class students will be invited into to a Parents Information Session with Michael Bond.

Revised versions of the 1st, 2nd and 5th year Christmas examination timetables are now available on the app in the Examinations Sections. They have also been changed on the staffroom notice board, and in the examination timetable boxes on the windowsills. The are now coloured BLUE.
Michelangelo History Trip

17th October 2016. Tour Group: 3 Michelangelo History. Dear Parent/Guardian, I have organised a school trip for students covering the 1916 Rising. The Trip is due to take place on Thursday 15th December. Students will be making two visits. The first stop will be at the newly opened 1916 Visitor Centre in the GPO. We hope to then move on Arbour Hill, after students being allowed some free time to get lunch in the O’Connell / Henry Street area. The cost of the trip is €10.00. This covers entrance to the GPO centre and the cost for the bus. Students may want to bring some pocket money for lunch. Students must be in full uniform to be allowed on the bus. They will need their school jackets due to the time of year. We will have a short walk to take from the bus stop to Arbour Hill Departure is at 8.45am sharp and we would hope that students should be back to the school close to 4pm. 17th October 2016. Tour group: 1 Shackleton History. Dear Parent/Guardian, I have organised a school trip for students that covers aspects of the Junior Cycle History Course in First Year. The trip is due to take place on Thursday 8th December. Students will be touring “The National Heritage Park” in Ferrigcarrig. Students are asked to bring a packed lunch and the Heritage Park will provide us with a lunchroom to eat in. The cost of the trip is €15. This covers entrance to the Heritage Centre, the Fulacht Fiadh demonstration, a watermill demonstration and the cost of the bus. Students may want to bring some money for the shop. Students must be in full uniform to be allowed on the bus. They will need their school jackets due to the time of the year. Departure is at 8.30am sharp and we would hope that students should be back to school between before 5pm. Regards, Maresa Lalor, History Teacher.
