First Year Reminder: Lenova Devices
Created : 18 Apr 2023, 6:10 PM
Archived : 08 May 2023, 1:00 AM

Dear First Year parents, guardians and carers,

Following a recent review with Wriggle on the performance of the Lenova devices, Wriggle have agreed to reconfigure each device, under your support contract, which should improve any performance issues your child may have experienced to date.

All devices will be collected by our technology teacher, Dan, on the final day of assessments (Friday May 5th).

This is a big undertaking for the school, so to ensure its success, we require your support with the following:

  • Each student must have their email and password written legibly on a piece of paper and inserted into the closed laptop. If this is not completed, Wriggle cannot work on the device
  • The protective case should be removed
  • If a student is not present that day, we ask that the device be dropped into the school by 9am Friday (May 5th).

Your child's device will be returned for class on Monday May 15th.  Teachers will ensure that a high level of teaching and learning continues while we are without the devices.

Thank you for your support.

Kind regards

Dear parents, guardians and carers,

The school is grateful to those of you who have asked after our principal, Jonathan. He is currently on sick leave but is looking forward to coming back to work when he is well.

In the mean time, we continue to work to be the school of choice in the area; not least with our move to our permanent site in Goatstown in September 2024.

Kind regards,

Matthew Quinn - Acting Principal

Dear Second Year parents/guardians,

Summer Assessments will take place from Tuesday, May 2nd to Friday, May 5th.

Please read the following carefully before looking at the attached revision tips for the summer assessments:

1. The attached assessment guidelines are intended to help students to prepare for their summer assessments.

2. It is important to note that not all content will have been covered yet. If in doubt, please suggest that your child talks to the relevant subject teacher.

3. We are providing this information in response to requests from families for details about what material students should focus on when they are studying.

4. This is not intended to be a terrifying list of content to be learnt. All of this material will have been covered and practised in class by the time the assessments take place.

5. To review material, it is suggested that students use study methods covered in tutor time. If there are specific issues about how to review material, it is strongly suggested that students communicate with their subject teachers.

Kind regards

Dear Second & Third Year parents and guardians,

Please see letter attached from the School Immunisation Team in relation to the HPV Vaccination catch-up programme which we have been asked to share with the school community.

The HSE is offering students in Second & Third Year another chance to protect themselves against HPV if they were not vaccinated when offered it previously.  If your child is eligible for a catch-up vaccination and you want to avail of the offer, please follow the steps in the letter and visit their website www.hpv.ie

Please note that First Years are currently part of the routine schedule and therefore this does not apply to them.

Principal Update

Dear parents, carers and guardians,

I am writing to ask for your support in relation to three issues:

1. Please remind your child that mobile phones are not permitted to be used for any purpose during the school day, including being used as a fob alternative to the keyring fob for Food Village. We have plenty of additional fobs available and are happy to help students set them up.

Phones should be out of sight from the moment students arrive at the front gate in the morning and until they leave the school premises at the end of the day. Phones will be confiscated if they are seen being used during the school day.

2. Late arrivals to school. A small number of students are consistently 2 or 3 minutes late to school in the morning. Students should arrive by 8.35am and be ‘ready to learn’ at 8.40am. It would help Clodagh in the office enormously if parents could explain excused lates via the app as soon as possible.

3. We use VSware for a variety of purposes, including for identifying and rewarding good behaviour and tracking lates, absences and the occasional incidents of bad behaviour which may occur. You have access to this information via VSware and we urge you to check in from time to time.

Thank you for your cooperation.

Focus Group on Wellbeing
Created : 18 Apr 2023, 5:45 PM
Archived : 27 Apr 2023, 1:00 AM

Dear parents, guardians and carers,

As previously notified we are conducting a school self evaluation (SSE) this year on Wellbeing in the school.  This involves gathering information to see what is working well, what can we improve on and creating a plan to take action on what changes are needed to improve.  Many of you kindly completed a feedback survey in February.

For the next stage of the review we are now looking for volunteers to participate in a focus group next Wednesday April 26th.  The focus group will be facilitated by teachers Clodagh Keane and Eamon Wallace and should take no longer than 30 minutes.

We will have two online focus group sessions that evening, one commencing at 4pm and an alternative slot commencing at 7pm.  We would appreciate if you could give 30 minutes of your time and engage in this evaluation by registering for one of these sessions here.

For further information please read the attached pdf notice.

Many thanks for your continued support.

Kind regards
