Dear parents and guardians,

The school is delighted to let you know that the Department of Education (DE) has confirmed that our school will move to superb temporary accommodation on its permanent site for the 2024/ 2025 school year. 

Meanwhile, architectural planning for the permanent building is proceeding and will proceed to construction as part of a ‘bundle’ of school building projects in due course. We will let you know as soon as we know any more.

Please see attached an important letter from the HSE with regard to the emerging risk of vaping for children and young people which we have been asked to bring to your attention.

Please note that students found engaging in vaping on the school campus will face the same school sanctions associated with smoking or taking drugs on the school campus.

Dear parents, guardians and carers,

Planning is well underway for 2023-24 and we are looking forward to welcoming a further 72 students to our school next year.

In addition, we are receiving a large number of applications from students who wish to transfer to Goatstown ETSS from other schools for the next school year.  In that regard, if you are changing school for any reason e.g. relocation, we would appreciate if you would let us know as soon as possible so that the board of management can offer places in a timely manner to students requesting entry to Second, Third and Transition Year.  Please contact the school office at office@goatstownetss.ie with details. 

Your child is automatically enrolled for the following school year unless we receive formal notification.

Dear First Year parents,

Exciting news for our First Years!  We are planning a overnight trip to Carlingford Adventure Centre in September for your child when they are in Second Year.

Students will depart by bus from the school early morning on Thursday, September 28th and return on the evening of Friday September 29th.

Some of the activities students may engage in include:

• Kayaking
• Laser combat
• High ropes course
• Team building challenges  

Lunch on both days, one evening dinner and breakfast the next morning will be provided.

The cost per child will be €170 approximately. This price may change closer to the time due to travel costs.

A deposit of €55 is now required to be paid by Friday May 5th via the school shop.

Further information will follow when we return in August.

A reminder for your child to wear their flag colours tomorrow and to bring some bakes and coins for the cake sale!

Dear parents, guardians and carers,

Three of our staff at Goatstown ETSS, Bridget, Eddie and Abbie, are volunteering this summer to help students and adults in the countries of India, Cuba and Tanzania. To support our amazing philanthropists, we thought it would be a lovely idea to do some fundraising for each of their charities in the school on Tuesday May 30th. 

On this day, we are asking each student to wear the colours of a designated flag, from one of the countries that our teachers will be volunteering in, and to donate €2. We will also have a cake sale at lunch time for our students and we are looking for some students (and teachers!) to bake cakes for the cake sale! 

• First Years: Cuba (Red, blue and white) for the Conservatario Amadeos Roldan 
• Second Years: India (Green, white and orange) for the Hope Foundation
• Third Years: Tanzania (Green, blue, black and yellow) for the Malaika Kids orphanage 

Details of the voluntary work each of our staff will be engaged in is attached below. The teachers will share their experiences with the students on their return and show how the donations were able to make a difference. 

We have also added a donate facility in the school app should anyone wish to donate to these causes, any small donation would help.

To secure a place on the Berlin trip, a deposit of €250 is now required to be paid to GTI Travel by tomorrow Friday, March 31st 2023.  A Payment Guide is attached below and payment can be made by clicking on the following link here.   You will need to insert the following booking reference: DUSC200668

The dates for the Berlin trip have changed to Wednesday,December 6th - to Friday December 8th 2023.  Please see pdf below for a draft of the activities planned for our exciting trip.
