Dear parents, guardians and carers,
We would like to extend a huge thank you to everyone who generously supported our fundraising efforts for the people affected by the devastating earthquakes in Turkey and Syria.
We collected 735euro and have donated these funds to the Red Cross who are in a position to support all those who have been dramatically impacted by this tragedy.
Also a big thanks to Fatma Sahin, a First Year parent, who arranged to deliver all the boxes of supplies, packed by the school, to the Turkish Embassy just before the mid term. We were grateful to receive so many supplies at such short notice.
Kind regards

Dear parents, guardians and carers,
Our extra curricular programme for term 2 is well underway and is attached here for your information.
Please encourage your child to participate in the sports programme and to get involved in at least one lunchtime club.
Students don't need to sign up anywhere. They can just turn up!

Dear parents, guardians, carers,
Unfortunately due to unforeseen circumstances we have had to postpone our hike trip to Ticknock this Friday until after the assessments in May. (The current weather forecast for Friday suggests that this may also work in our favour!) We will confirm rescheduled date after the spring break.
We will have timetabled classes on Friday and Food Village service will also be available.
Kind regards

Please ensure your child is wearing tracksuit/runners next week so that they can fully participate in all activities planned.
Next week we will be marking Active Week in Goatstown ETSS. This is an important week where we will emphasise the benefits of exercise on both our physical and mental wellbeing. Did you know all students should be active at a moderate to vigorous level for at least 60 minutes every day. For guidelines on young people’s activity levels in Ireland and also how to get started click here.
Here is a list of some of the great activities we have planned for next week:

Dear parents, guardians, carers,
The student council were keen for us to have a school hoodie that students could choose to wear if they wished. We are delighted that they have now arrived. If you ordered a hoodie, the item is now in the school app shop for payment.
We would like to thank our students for their patience. We experienced a number of delays with our original supplier and were left with no option but to source them from a different supplier - this has meant some variances in the colour range but we are pleased with the delivery of our first order.
We will continue to liaise with our student council to expand our range of hoodies going foward. And as the number of orders increase the cost should reduce.
Kind regards

Dear Second Year parents, guardians and carers,
We are excited to announce that we are planning a Third Year trip to Berlin next year. The trip will focus on historical aspects, as well as many different cultural experiences. We plan to travel for two nights and three days in October or November 2023 during the school term.
While on this trip, students will engage in many activities where engagement, independence and respect will be necessary. For example:
Please strongly consider these activities when deciding whether your child will attend this trip. Please complete this form by Thursday (March 16th) to indicate your interest or disinterest. Please note that the quoted trip cost of €500 from last year is subject to change until a deposit is paid but we hope that the final cost will remain similar to last year.
Kind regards

To our school community,
A reminder that our Culture Night takes place in the school on Thursday, March 23rd at 18:30. Please RSVP here.
Culture Night promises to be bigger and better this year. We will be showcasing talent and creativity across the Arts, including Drama, Visual Art, Music.
Although entry to this event is free, we invite you to make a donation via the school app towards the cost of the staging and lights which we need for this event. If throughout the calendar year you donate a total of €250 or more (through the voluntary contribution and once off fundraisers) and return your CHY forms, then the school will get an additional 45% from Revenue.
You will also be able to purchase refreshments on the night of the event.
We look forward to seeing you all on the night.
Kind regards

Dear First Year parents, guardians and carers,
If you have registered to attend our First Year Parent Teacher meeting, your timetable is now available for viewing. Please log back into PT Organiser to view your appointment list and print or save a copy of it on your device for the evening. We have tried to accommodate as many of your requests as possible in the time provided. However if you have not been given a time with any teacher (as they may teach more than one class) and have a particular concern you would like to discuss please make a separate appointment by emailing the relevant teacher or contacting the office.
Important note for Spanish subject only: If your child is in Pearse or Markievicz and you were given a time slot with Anna Gillespie you will instead meet Máire Toomey at the time provided on your timetable. If you have not been given a time slot to meet a Spanish teacher and would like to meet with Anna or Máire, please contact the office or come forward to Clodagh Keher on the evening and where possible she will give you a time slot for Spanish.
A reminder that the parent teacher meeting is intended to provide a brief overview of academic attainment in the subjects that your child will take for the Junior Cycle examinations. There will not be time for a detailed conversation as meetings can not run over the 5 minute slot. If you need to talk to a teacher in detail about a concern of any kind then please make an appointment by emailing the relevant teacher or contacting the office.
We look forward to seeing you at the school on Tuesday evening (March 14th).
Kind regards
