Charity Collection tomorrow Tuesday

Dear parents, guardians and carers,

The Student Council would like to remind the school community that tomorrow there will be a collection for LauraLynn, Ireland's Children's Hospice, during tutor time.  LauraLynn is the charity that students voted that we support now and in the summer.

We have added an option on the school shop to assist with this fundraiser for those that may find it easier to donate tomorrow.

Your support is very much welcomed but we also appreciate that there are many asks at this time of the year so please do not feel under obligation.

Many thanks.

Kind regards

Admission Policy amendment
Created : 29 Nov 2022, 1:14 PM
Archived : 16 Dec 2022, 12:00 AM

Dear Parents/Guardians,

Following the recent commencement of the Education (Provision in respect of Children with Special Educational Needs) Act 2022, all schools are required to amend their Admission Policy. In accordance with Section 62 of the Education Act 1998, where a board of management proposes to amend its Admission Policy, it must go through a consultation process with staff, parents of students and students.

The only proposed amendment to the Admission Policy of the school is to insert the following two statements in the Admission Statement section of a school’s Admission Policy: “Goatstown ETSS will cooperate with the NCSE in the performance by the Council of its functions under the Education for Persons with Special Educational Needs Act 2004 in relation to the provision of education to children with special educational needs, including in particular by the provision and operation of a special class or classes when requested to do so by the Council.”

“Goatstown ETSS will comply with any direction served on the board or the patron under section 37A and 67(4)(b).”

The draft Admission Policy is attached below. No other amendments are being proposed to the Admission Policy at this time.

As stated above, this amendment is required by legislation. If you wish to provide any feedback in respect of the proposed amendment, please do so by emailing office@goatstownetss.ie by December 2nd 2022.

School Hoodies
Created : 22 Nov 2022, 11:31 PM
Archived : 16 Dec 2022, 12:00 AM

Please note that we have extended time to order the school hoodie to Tuesday 6th. This will be the only opportunity to order hoodie for current school year.

Following a request from the Student Council, the school is now ready to proceed with the introduction of a hoodie which reflects our school identity. In time, we hope to make this available in a number of different colours.

It is important to underline that this item of clothing is not compulsory and that the school is not introducing a school uniform by stealth. Students may choose to wear or to not wear the hoodie. The Student Council was heavily involved in the design process.

To order a hoodie for your child please complete our order form here by Tuesday December 6th.  Students can choose from five colours for the inside of the hood.

The hoodie will cost 33-35euro approx depending on numbers ordered.  We will seek payment via the shop following completion of orders.

We have chosen Wolfhound and Elk as our supplier.  They are an Irish company that make all of their hoodies responsibly and in a sustainable way, and everything they do is done ethically.

Kind regards
