If you are unable to attend but would like to contribute there is a donate option on the Shop too.

First Year Option Subject Choice
Created : 27 Oct 2022, 5:17 PM
Archived : 11 Nov 2022, 12:00 AM

Dear First Year parents/guardians,

A reminder that your child's preferences for option subjects must be inputted into VSware by tomorrow (Tuesday) evening.  Students will begin studying their option subjects on Thursday 10th.  If you have any difficulty with accessing VSware please contact the office.  Thank you for your support.

Please see original notice below for further detail:

It is now time for your child to select their subject preferences for their option subjects and for you to input this information into VSware (see Student Options) before November 9th.

The option blocks are as follows:

Option Block 1:  Applied Technology OR Music OR Visual Art OR German

Students should select their preferences from 1-4, with 1 being the subject they would most like to study.

Short Course: Coding OR Artistic Performance OR Climate Action OR  Philosophy

Again, students should select their preferences from 1-4, with 1 being the subject they would most like to study.

Option Block 2:  Business Studies OR Graphics OR Home Economics

And finally, students should select their preferences from 1-3 for this block.

Please note the following:

  • To support your child in choosing their option subjects from the option blocks above please find attached a guide on each of the subjects.
  • Practical Subjects such as Applied Technology are capped at 24. This is a Department of Education decision and not a Goatstown ETSS choice.
  • We acknowledge that some subjects will be more popular than others. In the case of an oversubscribed subject, the fairest way to manage this is a lottery. The students who don't get their first choice will then be moved to their second choice and so on.
  • Please ensure you can log in to and access your VSware account now. All parents should have been notified of log in details by SMS text on October 13th.  Please contact the office if you have any issues with log in.

Kind regards

Code of Positive Behaviour

Smoking and Vaping:

Although we haven't had an issue with smoking or vaping in our school yet, there are an increasing number of secondary schools where vaping, in particular, has become problematic. I am writing to remind the school community that smoking and vaping are illegal on the school premises and that possession and, or supply of vaping/ smoking products or apparatus will be dealt with severly by the school. Behaviour of this kind will normally result in suspension from school.

Visiting Students:

Students are also reminded that pupils of other schools may not be on the school premises at any time unless accompanied by a visiting teacher as part of a pre-arranged and school approved activity.

Best wishes,

Jonathan Browner

If you are driving your child to the school, please leave them at a safe distance from the road entrance to the school and arrange to collect your child in a safe location nearby. Please note that there is no access for parent/guardians/carers cars into the school grounds. There are a very small number of students with particular and special circumstances to whom this does not apply.
