Week 2 - Attendance Message

The theme for Week 2 of our Attendance Challenge is that it is never too late to change! You can always start again with your child in relation to school attendance by sitting down & talking to them about the bigger picture. Encourage them to avail of the opportunities in school.

If getting your child to school has been or is difficult, there is always time to talk and plan differently - towards better attendance. Make contact with the school if attendance is an issue. Make an appointment to come in to see the Home School Liaison Officer or to arrange a home visit.

Think about what you want you child to  achieve in school  - what you want them to gain from it - where you see them going after school. This is different for everyone but everyone's journey is important.

No problem is ever solved by ignoring it and asking for help is not a sign of weakness - it is a sign of strength.

Dear Parent/Guardian,

Week 1 of the attendance Challenge is complete and there are positive signs. In total, 90 incidences of Unexplained Absences were recorded i.e.  a student was absent without reason.

As you know, all students are in a group and the aim is to encourage each other to attend. The first raffle will take place at the end of Week 2 with top prizes of Bluetooth Headphones and a Fitbit.

If you have concerns about your child's attendance, please phone the school to make an appointment to liaise with me - Home School Community Liaison Officer. There are programmes and supports available to help.

Kind Regards

Mary
