What a super TY workshop with Personal Safety Ireland! Students laughed (a lot), cried and frequently grimaced! Thanks to Alex Walsh, formerly of London Metropolitan Police(20 Years service), for demonstrating impressive self-defence techniques. Alex showed students how best to avoid confrontation where possible but also how to restrain would-be attackers. Hopefully students will never have to use these skills! @personalsafe @stjarlaths @YourTYNews #selfdefence #lifeskill

Great celebrations at the Sportsground yesterday evening as our rugby players won Connacht titles at both Senior and Junior level. This would not have been possible without the tremendous effort and dedication by our teacher and coach Kenneth Mulryan, the coaches from Tuam Rugby Club John Ward and Jimmy Maughan, supported by Cammie Gallagher and our sponsors of the teams Glynns Homevalue, Tuam. We are extremely grateful to them for their support in allowing our students to excel in their chosen sport.

"The Senior rugby team qualified for the final of the Top Oil Senior Emerging Cup after defeating St Paul's, Oughterard 22-12 on Wednesday. Jarlath's trailed 0-7 approaching half-time, but a well taken Conor O' Shaughnessy try ensured Jarlath's approached the second half with greater confidence. This was evident as they took control of the game with a well struck Luke Cronin penalty and further converted tries from Luke Cronin and Conor O' Shaughnessy. Paul's responded with a try of their own but strong Jarlath's defence ensured there was no further scores. The seniors now play St Raphael's Loughrea in the final at The Sportsground on Wednesday 27th March, kick-off at 2 pm. The Juniors also play their final against Pres Athenry at the same venue and date, kick-off at 4 pm. Cost of entry to The Sportsground is 10 euro per adult and 5 euro per student.
