In dramatic fashion CBS U19 Soccer team draw game to secure second place and a semi final spot!

Our U19 Soccer team played away today against Patrician Newbridge. They started strong but came up against a penalty in the 23rd minute seeing the Newbridge side lead 1-0. The CBS keeper, Kacper Banasik, managed to keep the opposition at bay with a great save 42 minutes in but Newbridge came back with a second goal in the beginning of the second half giving them a 2-0 lead. The Portlaoise side kept pushing forward and a goal from Callum Leonard 70 minutes in was the lift our side needed. They fought hard right up until the final minutes of the game with Kieran O’Donnell scoring our second goal and drawing the game. A nail biting game and a great team effort that sees the CBS march onto the U19 semi final. Well done to all the players and coaches Ms Hyland and Mr Glavin.

As Sovereignty and Partition is an important module on the Leaving Certificate this year the History Department has organised a trip to Kilmainham Gaol and Collins Barracks. A maximum of 33 6th Year students can participate and so the first 33 to return with their permission slip and money to Ms. Foley will be added to the list. The trip will be on Thursday 24th March. The bus will depart promptly at 8:15am and should be back by 4pm for buses. All students must wear their school uniform and it is recommended that they bring a packed lunch. The cost of the trip is €5.00 Please sign and return the permission slip attached.
