Parent Meetings for Transition Year and LCA this week PLUS TIMELINE for all TY/LCA/5th Yr Option Subjects

All parents who are interested in their sons doing either TY or LCA (Leaving Certificate Applied) in September 2022 should be mindful of two important meetings taking place this week.
On Monday night, 7pm, on Microsoft Teams, 3rd year parents can log in on their son's Teams account to hear Mr Paul Cahillane explain what this will look like for your son. It will be a very informative presentation and one that you should not miss if you or your son is anyway interested in TY for next year.
Likewise, on this Wednesday evening, in person, in the school, we are holding an information evening for parents of those students for whom this type of Leaving Certificate would be most suitable. We are pleased to be able to introduce the LCA Course for a number of our students from September 2022 and look forward to meeting with the parents at the slightly later time of 7.30, IN THE SCHOOL, IN PERSON, on Wed, March 2nd. If you think this could be for your son, it is very important that you attend, as the application time is short. all the TY, LCA and 5th year options are being sorted by March 30th and you will not have another opportunity to hear first hand what LCA is all about unless you attend. Thank you.

MASKS and other Covid Measures in School

In line with new Government Guidelines, we will not be requiring students or staff members to wear masks in school, as of tomorrow morning, February 28th. Other measures taken around the school such as perspex screens will begin to be removed this week.
The one way system will however remain in place, as it was always needed during the changing of classes and Covid enabled us to bring it in successfully.
Sanitising of hands is highly recommended and our hand sanitisers will continue to be topped up regularly.
While masks are not required, it is still required that good cough/sneeze practices remain - cover the nose/mouth with the elbow to control the spread of any germs, not just Covid. I think everyone can agree that during the last 2 years, since we began better hygiene practices, that the usual vomiting bugs, flus and colds have not been as prevalent. So we need to keep what is good for us such as hand sanitising and other wise practices out of respect for others.
To end on the topic of respect, all students and staff members who wish to continue wearing their masks should feel comfortable in doing so. There are still very vulnerable people at home in many families, and the practices which a family decide to continue for health reasons, will be respected by all.
