Níl aon tínteán mar do thínteán féin - there’s no place like home. St. Mary’s is a proudly diverse and multicultural school community. Although home might be thousands of miles away for some people, we strive to make ár scoil feel like home in many other ways. This includes friendship, support and safety. #seachtainnagaeilge #arscáthachéile #fromeachhisbest

1st Years were studying Hubble's Law yesterday by carrying out an activity to show how the galaxies in our universe are constantly moving apart. They used balloons and drew dots to represent the galaxies. The students measured the distance between the dots with the balloon only inflated a small bit and then again with the balloon fully inflated. They could see how the distance increased just like the distance bwtween the Milky Way and all other galaxies is increasing.

The Scholarship Exam will take place for first year applicants who have accepted their place in St Mary’s CBS for next September on Monday afternoon 28th March, from 4.45-6.45pm. This is to avoid any clash with either Confirmation or sporting fixtures which generally take place on a Saturday morning. The Monday scheduling will allow for the candidates to finish school, have a bite to eat and relax and arrive at our school by 4.30, when the secondary school traffic has moved on. The exam will then begin at 4.45 until 6.45 with a break in the middle.
Please download by clicking on the PDF below.
The closing date for applications will be Wednesday March 16th at 4pm. Please download the application for further information.
For anyone not fully aware of what the Scholarship provides it is a full uniform from Shaws Portlaoise (no footwear) and an iPad, loaded with the books and apps required for First Year.
