Night study returns this Monday, Sept 9th, in the school Library, 4.15 to 6pm. Although open to all students, it is particularly useful to students sitting the State exams in June and 5th years preparing for the Leaving Cert. Students can join any time during the term. Information leaflet and calendar are available from Mr. White's door.
Hi all,
I hope you’ve all settled in well as we embark on the new school term. I'm looking forward to sharing the TY activities schedule for the 2024/25 school year in the coming weeks and months.
Please note that there are no scheduled activities for TY students next week. This time is intentionally set aside to allow students and teachers to meet at least a couple of times, ensuring they become familiar with their timetables, subjects/modules, and daily routines.
The next TY activities take place as follows:

All TYs will be gone all day. There will be no classes for TYs today. You may be needed for supervision.

2024/25 Transition Year Programme
All of us in St Mary’s CBS are incredibly proud of the class of 2024 who received their Leaving Cert results on Friday morning.
Three of the students achieved more than 600 points, while a further 20 got 500 plus, which is excellent. All programmes, both Leaving Cert Applied (LCA) and Leaving Cert Vocational Programme (LCVP) saw the majority receiving Distinctions and Merits. All aimed high and achieved same.
Across the country, many students sat State Exams with Reasonable Accomodations, due to a variety of reasons, be they academic, medical, emotional or other. Our teachers and SNA’s were particularly delighted to see these students’ results which were a tribute to those students’ determination and resilience.
The Leaving Cert is not just about high achievers or the CAO, it is merely one step leading to their future careers. It will never define them, but it is nonetheless an achievement for all who choose to complete it. It is not easy, but neither is life and though many condemn it, there are so many routes to achieve a qualification or vocation that there is always another way to get there. It’s great to see such opportunities in 2024.
We applaud our committed teachers and Guidance Team who have supported our students over 5-6 years with both academic excellence and amazing extracurricular activities to enhance their lives and build confidence. And we wish our Class of 2024 everything good and positive in their future!
