I wish to advise of upcoming road works to take place on the Borris Road from Wednesday 12thJune. These will involve active travel improvements through the extension of off-road cycling infrastructure, commencing at the end of the existing off-road cycle track as far as the roundabout at The Grange estate – see map below with works area highlighted yellow.

The road closure notice recently advertised states that the road will be closed in one direction only, i.e. traffic heading towards Portlaoise. Traffic going towards the schools will be unaffected throughout the period of the works. Full access to the schools will be maintained throughout leaving and junior cert exams.

Follow-on works will see zebra crossings installed at the roundabouts at the school campus entrance and the Colliers Lane junction.

If you have any queries on the above then please come back to me.

Kind regards,

All 3rd years are expected to attend a full day of school tomorrow. All lockers will have to be emptied if they have not been so already. They will then be finished 'class time' for the current school year. We wish them all the very best in their exams over the next few weeks.

Book Rental books can be returned as each exam finishes, for eg, after the English exam the English texts can be left in the GPA.

We will really appreciate any donations of texts from non book rental students if you can be that generous. The book shops will not be taking in 2nd hands, as everything has changed with the new Government Scheme. These can be left in the area designated for book drops in the GPA from next week. We would really appreciate any donations.

Thank you for your continued support all year. MM

Thank you to our Parents Council this weekend!

This weekend, our annual Church Gate Collection took place at all the Masses in Portlaoise, The Heath, Rathineska and Stradbally for both Saturday evening and this morning.

I want to say a big thank you to all parents/guardians who volunteered their time to make this Collection happen.

Our PC Chairperson, Mick Delaney, deserves a shout out for organising an online registration for those interested to volunteer and for his overall enthusiasm during his first year in this role.

Our PC Meetings beginning again in September will take place online, in an effort to include more parents who find attending meetings difficult in the evenings. We hope this will increase a new kind of ‘attendance’ in the future.

Mental Health Week Day 1

Last Week we celebrated Mental Health Week in our school. The theme of the week was Moving more for our Mental Health.

Opposite Day kickstarted the week where teachers had the wonderful opportunity to dress up in the school uniform! Some teachers were very enthusiastic and behaved like model students for the day; whereas others were not as keen!

Other activities during the week was Drop Everything and Meditate ‍️ Students got a 5minute meditation to listen to in the middle of the day to relax and reset. Also enjoyed by teachers! ‍‍

️5th & 6th Years received a talk from Jack Scully on the affects addition has had on his Mental Health. Pat Maher, a Mental  Health Therapist spoke to our TY students also. Many thanks to both for coming in and sharing your experiences with our students.
