First and Fifth Year Subject Changes
Created : 29 Sep 2021, 2:10 PM
Archived : 29 Nov 2021, 12:00 AM
Any 1st or 5th year who is considering a change in subject, must do so BEFORE October 22nd. After Midterm Break, it will not be an option as 12 weeks of the courses will have been covered and the student would be left at a disadvantage.
Please ask your sons about their options this week and how they are getting on. It is late, even now, at this stage to begin a new subject, so it should be sooner rather than later.
If you do wish to change, you may email me with details. Otherwise give your son a note saying this desired change has your permission and tell him to come to my office. If you wish some advice from the Guidance Counsellor on future subject options in Senior Cycle or career choices, either advise your son to make an appointment with them with a message on Teams or else please ring the office and one of the a counsellors will return your call.
Sometimes there is no room in a class and it can’t happen. Sometimes, in order to get a class with an available place, the other options will be rescheduled and this may or may not be something your son wants to do. So you see it may take a few days of consideration and thought to make the best choice. Begin now. Thank you.

Ms. Barrett’s science class were investigating energy conversions in class today. They had to design and carry out their own experiments to show energy being converted from one form to another. Some groups converted electrical energy into solar then electrical and finally into sound energy by using solar cells, a lamp, cables and a buzzer. Others converted electrical into solar energy and then into kinetic energy by making a fan move. The students enjoyed building the circuits and testing different designs to see what energy conversions were possible.
