New PE Uniform
Created : 16 Aug 2021, 3:36 PM
Archived : 16 Oct 2021, 12:00 AM
Just a gentle reminder that all students, including 6th years, will be expected to wear the new uniform PE half zip and track suit bottoms for the days on which they have PE. To begin this year, as we did last September, students will wear their PE gear into school and remain in it for the full day, as we are not allowed to use the changing rooms yet. Our reasoning for expecting all years, including 6th years is as follows:
Considering that each item of normal sports gear which they wear outside of school cost far more than the 45 euros for the same half zip jumper which will be worn up to twice a week, it is not bad value. The black track suit bottoms are 25 euros, and will probably just survive the year's wear. I do understand the outlay at the start adds up, but it's better value than lads wanting to wear various hoodies (named brands and expensive) and bottoms throughout the year. Those who can't afford the best hoodies and T shirts feel bad when comparing themselves to those who have the best of new clothing all the time. That is the value of uniforms.
I hope you can understand our point of view. Thank you.

Clarification of 2nd year Booklists
Created : 08 Aug 2021, 4:00 PM
Archived : 08 Oct 2021, 12:00 AM
There was a mistake made to the Science and Religion texts on the Booklist which was put out earlier this summer. We realised it was an error, we did backtrack and change it in AllBooks and on other sources and platforms on which our Booklists are published. But it is difficult to be sure all changes were corrected and we obviously missed somewhere.
I want to clarify now that for nearly all subjects in 2nd year, (except Irish, Maths, SPHE) the texts purchased/rented in 1st year WILL take your son through to the end of his Junior Cert.
The 2nd year text for Science remains ‘Exploring Science’ and the correct Religion text remains ‘Inspire’.
We must provide a specific year by year Booklist each June as new students joining the school in September and later in the year, require the Booklist for the year they are joining. It also provides information for materials and fees due for certain subjects.
I apologise sincerely for this confusion and want to thank the few parents who have brought it to my attention this week.
Also, please remember that for both Irish and Maths you should wait until September to purchase the new texts when your son’s level of study will be decided. This decision is based on the student’s results in 1st year, the teacher’s professional judgement and parent’s wishes based on this sdvice.
Enjoy the remainder of your breaks. Thank you. MM

Update to 2019-20 Parents of TY’s awaiting refund

Apologies to parents expecting this refund earlier, it wasn’t as straightforward as we had expected. It involves working with the App through which many people paid. The App initially told us they could make the refunds to the parents directly, but they don’t have all parents card details. Nor do they know if every parent was fully paid up to be entitled to the same refund as everyone else. That is what caused the delay. The two issues will be dealt with together when the office reopens on August 16th. I do apologise for the delay. I was too eager to tell parents it would happen for them sooner rather than later and then realised that it wasn’t as simple as rewriting the same cheque to all. The office were very busy up to the 25th June when it closed and it has to wait now till be they return in August. I hope this explains the delay but the cheque will be in the post as soon as it can be arranged. Enjoy the summer and this amazing weather.
Update to Allbooks Online Purchase through App
Created : 20 Jul 2021, 5:59 PM
Archived : 20 Sep 2021, 12:00 AM
The App company, Unique App, have provided the following information for parents wishing to purchase materials and texts from AllBooks via our App:
Parents are currently being able to purchase through the app, however, some parents are experiencing some issues with the authentication process.
The parents who are experiencing issues we are able to send them a link to access the shop item in a browser so they can make the payment through there.
We are working on having the option for parents to send themselves the link, so they don’t need to contact us at all, as they will be able to pay for it by using the link.
Therefore parents can purchase any item in the shop.
I hope this gives clarification to everyone. Thank you for your patience.
Online Allbooks orders - notice of a change
Created : 08 Jul 2021, 4:24 PM
Archived : 08 Sep 2021, 12:00 AM
Apologies, our earlier notice about purchasing materials and texts from Allbooks on the School App (but not on their website) has had to be temporarily withdrawn due to the following reason:
As the main banks continue to upgrade their 2FA (Two Factor Authentication) security procedures it has caused some issues within the 3D Secure process for some card holders. So to avoid any issues with our parents trying to purchase the books we have been asked to recommend waiting until the end of next week. We sincerely apologise for this situation which is beyond our control, but in everyone's interests it is best to wait until the end of next week to order online from Allbooks, as advised. I will notify you when that time arrives.
HOWEVER, YOU CAN STILL ORDER THROUGH THE ALLBOOKS WEBSITE FOR HOME DELIVERY THE SAME AS ON THE APP. www.allbooks.ie
Thank you. MM
