Use of IT Information Night for all years

On Monday 9th September at 7 pm, we will hold an information session for parents of all year groups - 1st to 6th - on two important aspects of the use of IT in our school:
Mr Paul Cahillane will present and answer questions on the following 2 topics;
1. All parents/families of our students can use Microsoft 365 for free and also download the Microsoft Office 365 suite on up to 5 devices in their home for free- this saves buying the Office Suite for more than €100 for your older students heading to college etc. We will be showing you how to do this on Monday evening. This will be the first topic of the session.
2. If your son has an iPad, you can stay for the second part which is about the use of the iPad, the controls you can have on your son's use and access to it, and an opportunity to ask any questions you may have. It is the best opportunity you will have to learn about how your son uses IT in his education and how you can feel comfortable with that. We have learned from our experiences of the last 7 years using technology in the classroom to say that using IT in education has never been more controlled and that you have very little to fear from the use of the iPad - but we can't say the same for the use of his phone! Please do come on the night and ask any question you have.
If you do - bring your son's iPad with you and have his passcode to enable you use it.
If you are just interested in the first part of the sessions, please feel free to attend just for that and then leave if the iPad is not relevant to you.

CAO applicants are reminded that the Change of Mind deadline is 1st July at 5:15 pm.
This free facility offers applicants the opportunity to add, remove or change the order of their course choices. [Some restrictions apply].
Applicants are advised to think carefully about introducing new courses or changing their order of preference at this stage in the application process.
Helpful tips:
Make sure to carefully check your application and ensure that all of the course codes are correct and listed in order of preference.
When entering new courses or editing existing course choices, applicants must list ALL courses on the New Choices list.
Use the online Change of Mind facility – it is quicker, easier and helps to reduce the opportunity for applicant error.
CAREFULLY READ ANY CORRESPONDENCE FROM THE CAO . Applicants will receive an email showing these changes.
Leaving cert results will be available on Tuesday the 13th of August, 2019.

Second Year Books which Need To Be Purchased for September

If your son is going into 2nd year in September, there are a few of his first year texts which will need to be replaced by he follow on text.
This applies to Book Rental which you should have paid €100 to the school office for during May.
It is done online through wriggle.ie if your son uses ebooks on an iPad.
If you own all your own books you can visit a bookstore (Easons and Allbooks have our booklists) and purchase where you choose.
The subjects involved are:
Irish
English
Maths
Spanish
French
Music
SPHE
MATHS AND IRISH classes are divided into higher and ordinary level when they return in August based on their June Report Results.
If you are purchasing the ebooks there will be a second later store opened in September on which you can purchase the required level ebook for maths and Irish.
If you are purchasing in the bookshop, and do purchase during the summer what you think your son may be studying in Sept, do not lose the receipt nor write on the book so that, if necessary, you can exchange. Without a receipt no bookshop will take an exchange.
If you’ve done Book Rental since first year, there will be a notice on this app about the days to collect the required new books - but only if full payment for 2nd year has been made to the office and the texts no longer required are returned to Mr Mulligan.
The other subjects listed (bar maths and Irish) use the same text for all students and can be purchased whenever you choose.
