This evening some of our second years took part in the County library second year debating competition. We proposed the motion- ‘This house believes we have a better, richer society because we study poetry in school’ against Scoil Chriost Rí.
Gary Young O Shea, Ethan Murtagh, Michael Whyte and Luke Walsh won the debate to go forward to the next round!
Special mention to Luke Walsh who was accredited with the best speaker award!
Ms Carroll was thrilled with the boys performance and is looking forward to preparing with them for the next round!
Well done to the boys and their teacher and D. Carroll.

Before we depart for mid-term break Ms. O'Connell and I would like to draw your attention to the following:
We are concerned about the poor attendance of some of our TY students and those students who are constantly late. We would ask parents to support us in ensuring the boys are present in school as we feel the Programme is undermined by indiscipline in this regard. Transition Year is a normal academic year and it is ill advised to facilitate inattendance or late coming to school. Furthermore we have had to roll out some Friday detentions for students failing to do work and missing project deadlines. This is a new departure in TY and we are hopeful it won't become the norm this year.
Please take note of the following : Students interested in taking part in SCIENCE workshops in U.C.D. should go to the website www.ucd.ie/myucd and register for the appropriate course.
Rehearsals have started for the musical, "Joseph and the amazing technicolour dream coat", and it will be performed on April 9th and 10th in the Dunamaise Theatre . We would welcome your support please parents! Again encourage your sons to get involved and make this a resounding success.
Best of luck to the ZIP team in general but particularly our TY boys!
We want to wish everybody a happy and healthy holiday!
E.O'C. and L.G.
