Congratulations to John Davis , TYA, who was one of six students awarded a certificate of merit for participation in the RTE All Ireland Drama Festival Initiative - schools playwright competition 2019. All six will receive awards at the Dean Crowe Theatre Athlone on the 30th April 2019. John's was one of 286 scripts submitted for adjudication and is one of the final 6 for the big prizes. Congratulations to all three TY classes who took part in this year's SCI FEST competition today. The judges were most complimentary of their projects and the prize winners go forward to the Carlow Regionals. The winning team of Gavin Skehan, John Davis and Eddie Critchley won first prize so well done lads and good luck in the next round! A big thank you to the science teachers for organising the Sci Fest, a most inspiring experience for students and staff. Thank you too, to the visiting judges. This Friday coming the 8th Feb. Tony O'Reilly of Gamblers Anonymous will present a workshop to all of TY. The Bank of Ireland Financial planning for TY's will take place on Monday the 11th February. The talk will take place during their English classes. URGENT - A number of students travelling to Italy have not as yet returned up to date passport details . The travel Company has been pressing for this information since well before Christmas !! Please comply. A place has become available to travel with the TY tour group to Italy .. anyone interested should speak with Ms. E. O'Connell immediately. Meanwhile the short courses will end on Tuesday 12th Feb .Thank you to all our course leaders , 5 of the 6 are local to Portlaoise and we really appreciate their skills and knowledge in the various areas . Thank you also to our own Ms. Hyland, coach for the mock trials competition taking place in May. Mid term is fast approaching and we wish everyone a happy holiday. Please note that on the first Tuesday back , the 26th February, TY will visit UCD for another "taster" day and campus tour. E. O'C.

well done to our U19 Basketball team on an outstanding performance to be Mercy Mounthawk this morning. They now play The Bish from Galway at 4:15 in the All Ireland “A” semi final. Best of luck lads

Please return the iPad Slip or the Book Rental Slip by the end of this week if possible. If you don't know what your plan is, return it anyway with 'Don't know yet' written on it.
