There will be no classes for students this Tuesday. All Staff will be taking part in a planning and training day. We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause anyone. We are still fulfilling the correct number of school class days as required by the Department of Education and Skills. We scheduled this day for this second term as opposed to other years when we did it at the start in August and brought students in that day earlier this year. Thank you.

UCD's school of Psychology have organised a free webinar series for parents/teachers or anyone interested in adolescent mental health.

Senior Rugby boys host French Touring School - Frassati College Lycee

On Thursday last our Senior Rugby Boys were in Portlaoise Rugby club, tasked with taking on a French Touring School Frassati College Lycee. Thanks to Ciaran Reilly for organising.

The French outfit started the game very well showing fantastic speed in open play and aggression at the breakdown. The fast tempo from the Frassati boys had the CBS under pressure early on. Some great play from the CBS would see them getting into the game with great offloading from Cha O Dwyer, Paddy Reddin and Patrick O’Callaghan (to name just a few) which would see the French side pinned back into their own half. Some good play from the CBS allowed David Reddin get over for a try to open the scoring for the CBS.

The strong play would continue from the CBS with outhalf PJ Larkin pulling the strings to get the ball put to Tony Walsh on the wing and the speedy winger would evade two French players to get over for the try with Paddy Reddin hitting the conversion to make it 12 nil to the CBS.

Frassati College weren't done yet though and they kept pushing hard to get in for their first try of the day. Both sides were delighted to hear the half time whistle after an exhilarating first half.

The game was certainly in the balance and with numerous changes made to the CBS team at half time the fresh legs counted with the bench making a big impact in the second half with Tadgh O Sullivan, Nyasha Mahona and Johnson Junior adding great speed and defence to set up another attacking platform for the CBS. Good passing from Larkin, Reddin and Mahona would see Tony Walsh released again down the wing and once again his speed was too much for the French defence getting his second and the CBS third try of the day with Daniel Thornton hitting the conversion, to make it 19 to 5. Frassati would rise again and get in for their second try but that was that for this fixture with the final score  finishing at 19 to 10.

Another great win for this undefeated CBS Senior team. A very promising year ahead with the young guns adding plenty of flair to the theam ahead of next year. A huge thanks to Frassati College Lycée for a great game with fantastic sportsmanship and spirit shown from both sides.

Thanks again to Roy Glynn for his help and to our two referees on the day Cian Butler and Jake Byrne. #fromeachtheirbest

Our 2nd Years braved the rain on Tuesday to visit some heritage sites.
In Cahir they were guided through the medical castle and discovered just how difficult it was to climb and descend a stone spiral staircase.
At Donnaghmore Work House they got a sense of how difficult life was for families during famine times.
Well done to all for their excellent behaviour.
