Senior Debating Update

️Congratulations to all our debaters; Captain Jack Murrell, Harry McGree, Cathal Ging and Adam Raji for qualifying and representing the school so well in the Griffith College Law Debate. They won convincingly over a strong Macroom side. ️
Twenty schools from all over Ireland contested to a super standard.
Both Jack and Harry were in contention for overall best speaker and the team missed out on a final place by marginal marks.
The school submitted an essay titled This House believes that Ireland’s exam-obsessed model is failing Irish students, to qualify for the competition. Harry McGree penned our piece and succeeded in winning the overall Best Essay in the competition. Congratulations yet again to Harry.
The team were accompanied by their fellow debaters and Ms.Carroll, and all had a wonderful enlightening experience.
We will be back for sure next year! ️

Congratulations  to both David Wajrak and Daniel Downey who are both crowned All Ireland Indoor Champions over the weekend.

It was a busy break for David Wajrak who started his Easter break in an Irish vest  at the International Schools Cross Country in Abbottstown.  David ran the final leg in the mixed relay bringing home the Irish team into 3rd position. A great experience for David representing Ireland for the first time. He capped off the break with an unexpected win in the u16 boys 1500m All Ireland Indoor Championships. David had a super run settling in for the first few laps before taking to the front and opening up a huge lead to run a fantastic time of 4.12mins. Well done David!

Daniel was also busy on top of the podium claiming gold in the u16boys 800m and Long Jump!  In a very competitive field Daniel led the 800m from the gun but was put under pressure in the last lap going into second place. True to form, Dan showed his class and pushed all the way to the end crossing the line first in a blistering 1.59mins.  David was 4 th in this race also. Daniel was also competing in the LJ and jumped a whopping 6m to regain his title with ease. Well done Dan!

A very unique experience for a school to have 2 All Ireland Champions - dominating middle distance in their age across the country! Huge congratulations  to both lads who are great and hardworking competitors. This shows great promise for the track season ahead!
