iPad Deployment Thursday 16th August 2018

First years iPad Deployment Day takes place on Thursday next. Texts have been sent out this morning informing parents of the time slot for their sons. A parent or other adult is invited to accompany them which we strongly advise, as it helps in the understanding of the various aspects of the iPad setup at home in the coming weeks. It is not about how to use an iPad, it is about how the school and parent can manage it. We have found this to have a very positive influence in the first few weeks. Thank you.

Thursday 23rd August: First Years in class 9-1.15. They are in everyday after this for the following week from 9-1.15 also.
Friday 24th August: Fifth Years in class 9-1.15. Half days all next week as well.

Thursday 30th August: TY's begin their year and all classes are present 9-1.15.
Full days commence on Monday September 3rd.
As always, students must begin the year in their full uniform, black shoes, not black runners, with all earrings and piercings removed before entry to the school. If a student has had a recent piercing done, that will not be accepted as an excuse to leave it in.
Parents are encouraged to purchase the school jacket, available in Shaws, as non-school jackets will not be allowed if your son goes on school trips.
Your sons' timetables will be available on VSware on Wed 22nd August. They will also receive a copy on their first day.
Fees for the practical subjects mainly, which were outlined on all Booklists, should be paid up fully by the end of September. School budgets are very very tight and purchases of wood/steel/paper, etc. do need this supplementary payment which we ask you for, to be able to provide these materials for class.
On their first day, all 2/3/5/6 and TY students should bring the usual €20 for the journals and locker in an envelope, with the student's name and class written on the outside. Students will be keeping the same locker as last year. New students and 1st years will be given new lockers by Mr Mulligan.
If your son is in First Year, the cost is €30 as there is a new Wellbeing Journal which all first years must have, which costs an additional €10.The 2 Journals will be distributed on receipt of payment that morning.
Please be sure that ALL your son's belongings and books have their name permanently marked on them. Including the school bags and shoes/runners/football boots which all look the same.
Some changes for the 2018-19 School Year:
Classes this year will be of one hour's duration. So there will be only 6 class periods per day on Monday - Thursday and 4 on Fridays.
Rafters Cafe are our new catering company. They will be preparing food on the school premises for students from 8.15 am through to lunch time. Their menu,
to include hot food, will be found on this App before term begins.
Further information and notifications will be updated on this App in the coming two weeks. Continue to enjoy the last few weeks of your holidays lads!
