Skiing Trip information evening for parents Tuesday the 7th of February at 7pm in the school. 


Travel details and any questions or queries you may have will be answered on the night.


Attendance is important to ensure the smooth running of this trip. Students are also welcome if they wish.

**CAO Application deadline is today February 1st at 5pm.** 

Late application facility will open between 4th March and 1st May but an additional fee will be required!

Important - Late applicants will NOT be consider for HEAR or DARE.

Applications for restricted courses can also NOT be made after 1st February.

Our Senior Debaters Visited SCR!

It was a tense debate against @scoilchriostri_portlaoise last week. There was a lot of back and forth, which almost came to a tie breaker, but unfortunately our 5th year debaters were narrowly defeated.

However, despite the close battle, Luke Walsh came out with best speaker. Congratulations Luke! Side note - Luke was a last minute call up after one of our speakers was out sick. The boys say we cannot come home without a win the next day! 
U17s March On to Mid Leinster A League Final

St Mary’s CBS U17 Vs Pipers Hill Naas - 

The CBS came into the game confident coming away from their 6-0 win over Clane. They started the game slowly and were punished by Pipers Hill as they scored an early goal to start. 

The second half began a lot better for the CBS with Darren Brennan putting in a beautiful corner which Jack O’Sullivan slotted into the net, making it 1-1. It was end to end stuff for the remainder of the half but in the dying minutes of the game, super sub Ben O’ Connor finished a lovely through ball from Desmond Peters. Ben dinked the ball over the keeper to make it 2-1 to the brothers. All roads lead to the final now!!

Author Eleanor Merriman speaks to our First Years

Local author Eleanor Merriman came in to speak to all First Years today. Eleanor’s visit was organised by the Wellread committee to promote our goal of increasing reading for pleasure. Eleanor spoke to the boys about her inspiration for writing her first book, the journey through getting it published and her experiences with promoting her book. She took questions at the end and some great questions were posed by the boys. Thanks to all who helped facilitate the talk. Eleanor left the boys with the message that any one of them could write their own book, you just have the belief in yourself to do it! 
First Years STAR Reading Test

All First Years will undergo their first STAR reading test of the year this week. Ms. Lalor will come to your class at the advertised times, and you will sit the test on your own device. 

You need to have a device (internet enabled) in class with you to do the test. A phone is fine if you do not have an ipad. You will also be given instructions on how to get back into myON and/or use BorrowBox to access reading material in time for the next STAR tests (before Easter). 

You will be shown how to quiz yourself on your reading in the Accelerated Reader site. A competition will also run in February / March for the most pages read on the myON website and most successful quizzes completed on the Accelerated Reader website.

LCA are busy working with artist Maeve Sookram in association with the Laois Education Centre BLAST artist in schools programme today. We’re looking forward to seeing what they produce!
