French Exchange Day 12

Today the group headed eastwards to the Champagne capital of Reims. After an orientation tour which took in historical sites which had withstood the ravages of two world wars, the pupils were able to visit the main shopping streets before returning to prepare for a soirèe in Lycée Jean Monnet. Last day tomorrow.

Today the group visited Paris, including a stop at the Eifel Tower and a stroll through the Tuileries Gardens. Once again the weather was kind and the sun shone throughout the visit to the historical city.

The first full day in France was spent visiting the nearby city of Compiegne where the French and Irish students visited the Imperial Palace built by Napoleon. After a tour of the Grands Apartments in they relaxed in the spacious gardens on a sunny afternoon. The group was also given a guided tour of the automobile museum located in the chateau since 1927. The return trip to Crépy-en-Valois took them through the Forest Domain of Compiegne, taking in a view of the famous show castle at Pierrefonds built by Violet le Duc. Tomorrow, the students will spent a day "en famille" with their host families before begiining the school week in Lycée Jean Monnet on Monday morning.
French Exchange Days 6 and 7

On Tuesday the group visited the Royal Valley where they were given a guided tour of Newgrange. Earlier they had spent some time on a sunny Bettystown beach before trying out some bowling in nearby Funtasia. The day ended with a soirée in the school where they danced to music from the current top playlists in France and Ireland. On Wednesday the students took part in a bi-lingual treasure hunt through Athboy. They also sampled new coding software using microbits under the direction of Ms Mc Grory. The French students have now returned and the group will re-unite on Friday evening for the second half of the exchange in Crépy-en-Valois. On y va!
New Prefects

Best of luck to our newly recruited Prefects who received their badges on Thursday. The Prefects were selected following interview and they then received two days of training. The Prefects act as positive role models and assist throughout the school. The badges were presented by Ms. Martin (Athboy CS teacher) and certificates of training by Ms. McKiernan (Limelight Theatrics).

Best of luck to our 22 competitors in the Meath Track and Field Event in Navan today. Despite the cold and blustery day ahead the team were in great spirits before leaving the school. They will be accompanied by Mr Williams. Lets hope they all enjoy the day and do themselves proud. Latest update: Team won 8 medals in total! Well done to all who competed.
Ireland Skills Live

Yesterday over 50 Senior Cycle students went to the Ireland Skills Live event in the RDS. Students and teachers alike had the opportunity to try some of the many skills and trades on show. It was an amazingly well organized event and gave students an insight into apprenticeship, traineeship and graduate courses..
U 14 Hurling

The U 14 Team took part in a blitz held in Dunganny yesterday. Everyone put in a massive effort on the day, playing 3 hard fought games. The team is coached by Mr Sheridan. The future looks bright for Athboy CS hurling.

A series of talks will take place at 7.00 p.m. on for parents/guardians of current Third Years as follows: Thursday 14th March (Leaving Certificate Applied), Thursday 21st March (Transition Year). Thursday 28th March (Traditional Leaving Certificate Programme). A selection of Third Level Colleges will set up displays in the GPA from 5.30 p.m. on Thursday 28th. Pupils will be asked to indicate which programmes they wish to follow before Wednesday 3rd April.
