Tomi Reichental, a survivor of the Bergen - Belsen concentration camp, engaged with the whole school community during his visit to Athboy CS today. For two hours students, teachers and parents listened attentively to his life story. He emphasised the destructive power of whispers and the role of bystanders. Afterwards he mingled with students and signed copies of his books. No one present today will forget his visit and message. A big thanks to Ms.Kane for organising this event.

Well done to our 6th Year students who had their Graduation Ceremony in the school gym last night. It was a great event and a big team effort made it a memorable occasion. Best of luck to the students as they head into their Leaving Certificate exams in June.

On Monday the group visited Dublin, beginning with Croke Park where they were given a talk on Healthy Living as well as a guided visit before they tried out their shooting skills in Football and Hurling. A walk from the Garden of Remembrance down O'Connell Street brought them to the Wax Museum where they met with famous figures from the past and present. They then visited Trinity College before heading to Blanchardstown for some retail therapy. On a passè une très bonne journée.

On Saturday the group from Athboy CS and Lycée Jean Monnet visited Lough Crew Cairns where they learnt about the history of the megalithic times over 5000 years ago when these funeral tombs were built. They were also afforded a magnificent of view of the Royal County and adjacent regions. They later travelled to Mullaghmeen Forest Park where they were put through their paces in team challenges. Congratulations to the Junior Camogie Team who won their three games in Portlaoise yesterday to be crowned Junior Camogie Novice Leinster Champions. The girls showed great skill and determination in all their games. The team is coached by Ms. Barrett.

The students from Athboy Community School and Lyceé Jean Monnet enjoyed a great day in the Causey Farm where they baked, danced and played the bodhran before getting stuck in when they visited Girley Bog. They bonded really well.
