Well done to all our 1st Yr. students who took part in the annual Preslink walk recently. The boys walked from the school, through Fitzgerald Park to the Lee Fields and back to the school.
This event raised €2,500 for Presentation Brothers projects in Africa which will be greatly appreciated and put to good use.
It has been a busy number of weeks for our TY Coaching Module students. Currently the group is coming to the end of the module and are doing a fantastic job in coaching our 1st year students on Wednesday mornings.
Over the course of the module our coaches have been exposed to professionals from a variety of fields, such as nutrition and mental skills. Ex-Munster rugby player Jonny Holland spoke to our coaches about the vital role that nutrition plays in athletic performance, in addition the importance of sleep and the role of supplementation. Tom Painter from APEX Mental Skills gave a two hour workshop on developing a positive culture within a sporting organisation and how to mentally empower athletes.
Our coaches have developed a wide range of skills over the course of the module. These include: inter-personal communication, time keeping, positive reinforcement and inclusive session planning.
Well done to all involved and thank you to all staff members that gave up their class time to allow their 1st year students to be coached!

The annual Movember campaign in Pres is again up and running.
Movember is an international campaign to raise awareness and funds for research into men's cancers, specifically testicular and prostate cancers, as well as mental health.
As in previous years, class groups compete to raise as much money as possible, with the victors winning a prize. Staff and students cultivate moustaches for the month, and we welcome Dr. Derek Power, Consultant Oncologist in the Mercy Hospital to the school. Dr. Power will speak to our senior students about his work and the preventative measures that they can take to keep themselves safe.
We strongly urge all in the Pres community to support the campaign again this year. Your generosity is very much appreciated.
Grow a Mo, save a Bro!!
