St. Mary’s CBS Senior football team faced Scoil Dara from Kilcock at home today. The CBS side looked a bit shaken in the first half, conceding 2 goals but we came back with points from DJ White (2) and David Costello (10). Dáire Mc Donald (1-1) followed up with a goal and a point to end the first half. Half time substitution saw Niall Kirby come in for DJ White and James Devoy for Josh Hogan. In the second half we came out strong, managing to keep the ball well under pressure. Sean O’Sullivan replaced Liam Og Brennan. The CBS side scoring a lot more frequently with two goals from Kieran O’Donnell (2-4). The final whistle saw the Portlaoise side come out on top with a score of 3-17 to 3-12. Well done lads.

Today’s U15 soccer cup game saw St. Mary's CBS take on St. Finian’s of Mullingar. CBS opened the game with a score from Nathan Lupoyo. The Mullingar side got a penalty, initially Joshua Corbett saved it but the ref called for it to be retaken and it ended up in the net. A few minutes later Liam Conroy scored a wonder goal from the half way line that lobbed the keeper. CBS gained momentum then and Ben O’Connor scored goal number three.
Unfortunately our luck ran out in the second half, we conceded 4 goals finishing the game 6-3 with a win for the Mullingar side.
A good opening performance for our young team of players.
