SHAWS UNIFORMS-ORDER FORM HERE
Created : 01 Jul 2020, 6:50 PM
Archived : 15 Sep 2020, 12:00 AM
Shaws have informed us that their school uniform stock will be in store from tomorrow, July 16th. If you know what your son needs and the size, you can order here, on the Order Form found by clicking on this link. You can also make a query, and SHAWS will communicate directly with you via your own email. You will then collect from the shop. We, the CBS, have nothing to do with this except we are putting it up on this App to facilitate all involved.
The school jackets won’t be available until mid August, as orders are only beginning to ship of late. This has an impact on sending them away to embroider the names, so it looks like they won’t have name labels this year. If students write their names or use iron on labels in the lining or pockets, it will help identify whose is whose.
Our school website's Home Page also has a link to this order form.

First Years - have you made up your mind for books or ipads?

We've been looking at the numbers of those who have opted for Book Rental and those who have purchased iPads and ebooks with texts. There is a shortfall of approximately 40 students who have opted for neither. The bookshops tell us that parents must begin purchasing as soon as possible as deliveries are very slow and they for see panic buying closer to September. Whatever your choice, it is in your interests to make your decision and begin to pay it off, if at all possible.
The absolute last day to sign up for Book Rental is tomorrow, Friday 12th June at 1pm. Nobody else will be included after that date. The iPad option is still available through Wriggle.

Second, third and fifth year parents may now log on to the Wriggle store at this link: www.wriggle.ie/OnlineStoreLogin. Our School Store Code is 02742671, the same as for the other year group stores. There is no late fee for these year groups.
You can buy a new iPad with books or simply order the new books needed for the new school year. The new books would be relevant for 2nd and 5th year students.
Anyone who wishes to go to iPads for the coming year, in light of the strong likelihood of blended learning (meaning being in school and out of school on different days, doing online learning at home on some device, such as the last four months) is very welcome to contact Mr Paul Cahillane on his email to enquire about the details. pcahillane@portlaoisecbs.com .

WORK EXPERIENCE
As you know, the Covid-19 pandemic has changed the world that we inhabit . There are so many uncertainties in relation to the future and there are question marks about the school year and in particular about work experience.
However some decisions have to be made now and we, upon taking advice and watching the unfolding news of Ireland reopening, have determined it would be best to offer students a block of work placement later in the year rather than the usual Wednesday weekly occurrence. Timetabled classes will be the norm on Wednesdays . We will adopt a ‘wait and see’ approach but the most likely scenario is a block of work experience in the new year.
We fully intend to offer as full and diverse a programme as always whilst observing the guidelines from the Department. We look forward to seeing you all in September. Enjoy your summer and further easing of restrictions.
Kind regards
L.Gillson
