Dear Student and members of the Student Council My name is Reuban Murray and I am the President of the Irish Second-level Students' Union. We are the organisation where students in secondary school are elected to work together to further the student voice. We have been in talks surrounding the return to school - Leaving Cert 2020 and the 2021 State Exams. We have launched a survey to seek the views of our student members on the return to school amid Covid-19. The closing date is Tuesday 17th November at 12pm. We want to hear what you think about the current measures in place , how they are working, what works well and what areas we need to focus on to improve? Fill out the following link to let us know how you feel: www.surveymonkey.com/r/ISSUSchoolsremainingopen This survey will be used to inform our national decision making and more importantly it will feature as a key part of our work when we speak in Leinster house to TDs and Senators on the concerns and perspective of students. It is imperative that you take part in this survey and have your voice heard. We need your help. All of the information collected is anonymous and confidential. We need YOU to help us bring your views to the national stakeholders so that student voices can be heard and recognised. If you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact us. Today Ms Hyland’s TYC students took part in the Laois Comhairle na nÓG zoom meeting, an interactive programme with various schools from Laois coming together to discuss important aspects of young people’s lives. Two of the main topics for today’s meeting were body image and cultural diversity. The students discussed what such topics meant to them as individuals and the importance in their lives. Together, the Laois schools came up with multiple ideas of how they could spread positivity and acceptance. It was a great way for young people in the community to come together and discuss real life topics that need to receive more recognition in the future. Well done to our TY’s who were complimented on making a fantastic contribution! Pictured here are our representatives - Sean O’Sullivan, Jack Ahern, Callum Leonard, Cathal Molloy, Sean Keane, Sean Maher, Cian Nolan and Conor Buggie. Great work guys!
