As you read before Christmas on this App, Ms Shelly Conroy has been seconded to PDST for the remainder of this school year. I'd like to take this opportunity to introduce her replacement, Mr Eoin Lowry, who will take over Ms Conroy's Geography and Religion classes from Monday morning at 9am. All students of Ms Conroys can be assured that their curriculum will be continued and they will be prepared for all their exams, project work etc by Mr Lowry.
As it is always a difficult start to begin in the middle of the year with any class group, it will take some time for Mr Lowry to get to know his students, moreso that it is online. I'm sure our students will show Mr Lowry the gentlemen they always are and extend both a warm welcome and full commitment to all his classes.

Hi, no doubt the questions are flying around your heads, and those of your sons/daughters - what will happen to my practicals, my projects, will there be Mocks, what about orals, etc. Today I have no answers for either you or our teachers who have the very same questions. We need to get the online teaching/learning up and running from Monday at 9am. Those other very important issues will have to be considered and decisions made in the coming weeks. When I know, you will know, on this App. Unfortunately, Principals don't get any inside track on announcements but you will be kept as informed as possible once I get information. I just wanted to acknowledge your very real concerns in this time of confusion and uncertainty.

Mr Cahillane is the new TY and LCVP Coordinator. He has been working on a plan for online courses to keep the TY lads busy and engaged in the coming weeks. This he is sharing on Microsoft Teams - what certification they will receive, what courses they will be doing, what the Tuesday afternoon activities will be, etc. He will also put it up on this App next week.

Good morning, All 1st years can go into school today, up to 5pm, to collect their books from their lockers. Please wear masks and sanitise hands on entering the school. Please advise your sons to maintain social distancing if there are several emptying their lockers in the same area. Stand back and wait for a few minutes is the best advice. Thank you.
Happy Christmas to our School Community

I would like to take this opportunity to wish all our students, families and extended families a very Happy and Healthy Christmas. We have all come through a difficult year, and it is important to acknowledge the wonderful attitude and cooperation which your sons have demonstrated when they were asked to forego so many activities, - get togethers, sports, normal ways of relaxing and letting off steam, keeping masks in place, one way systems, no lockers, online assignments and other new learning practices which don't come easy to everyone, and in general a more solitary school experience. We, as a Staff, hope that we have supported everyone as much as possible on those bleak days which everyone has. I also want to say it was my pleasure to talk to and get to know so many parents since last March. For so many of you to feel that you could talk or email me to get a personal response on whatever your family or son's issue was at that time is important to me and I hope to you. Covid has isolated us all and I hope I have helped many of you through those uncertain times.
We have no idea what lies ahead. But experience tells us that we can get through whatever it is. Communication is the key to it - the masks may cover our mouths and faces but they don't stop our reaching out in other ways to each other as a school community. There may be some actions we took since reopening in September which you may have disagreed with or misunderstood. I'm sure there were. No change in practice was decided upon in the CBS without long discussion and consideration of the impact it would have on everyone. Sometimes we had no choice - it is the HSE who make the call on Covid cases. Other times it is the DES (D of Education) who decide. In all cases we had to weigh up the needs of the students, the time frame available for teachers and secretaries to make it happen, and in most cases - what other new normal practices were going to interfere or overlap with what else we needed to do - it has not been straightforward. And although our business is education and preparation for exams etc, more than ever, we had to be even more aware of the wellbeing of everyone.
Have a lovely Christmas Break. If self-isolating, restricting your movements or God forbid, unwell, may the time pass quickly and pleasantly for you. May all of you find inner and spiritual strength to look forward to an uncertain start to 2021, and come back more refreshed when the schools reopen. God bless, MM
Best wishes

Our 1st Years completed a series of individual claymations based on Climate Change research. They discovered waste management regarding students use of the correct bins in the school was one of the biggest issues worth addressing among the school community. They worked separately on their claymations and then collaborated to form a production on iMovie.
They wish to present the film on the school noticeboards and raise student awareness of their own impact on the climate.

Well done to fifth year students Colin Conroy and Aaron Doran who won the Under-17 SSE Airtricity League with Bohemians football club last night.
Aaron scored one of two first-half goals which gave the team a 2-0 win against ShamrockRovers at the UCD Bowl. Colin was named man of the match.
Extract from the Irish Examiner:
‘Bohemians may have finished runners-up to Shamrock Rovers in the League of Ireland but their emerging crop reversed the trend by winning the U17 national league final at the UCD Bowl.
Aaron Doran’s opener after just 15 seconds set the tone for the Gypsies and when the scorer set up Evan Ferguson for the cheeky second from a back-heel on 26 minutes, it was an uphill struggle for the Hoops.
Bohs, whose strength at underage level is highly influenced by their official link-up with St Kevin’s Boys, were worthy of their win, especially through the display of Byrne in goal, along with centre-back pairing Sean Greman and Darragh Reilly. Their central midfielder Collie Conroy deservedly earned the man-of-the-match award.’ (Irish Examiner 2020)
