This is a great chance for Leaving Cert students to learn more about Journalism and specifically the Bachelor of Arts in Journalism & Digital Communication (more information on their website). If any 6th year students who like English, have an inquisitive mind and are curious about Journalism/Media/PR, should register for the day by emailing, Katie.McAuliffe@ul.ie, with your details by Wednesday 16th October. Once numbers are confirmed, you will be updated with times, location etc.

Today saw a great game of basketball between two evenly matched sides. St Mary’s CBS and Mercy Mounthawks of Tralee. Unfortunately CBS came up short losing out to Mounthawks on a score of 79-73. This marks the end of the boys cup run but hopefully they will be back and better than ever for the league. Well done to all involved players, coach, and supporters. Best of luck to Mounthawk. Our first year hurling team began their season this morning by taking part in a blitz organised by Laois GAA at the LOETB Centre of Excellence in Portlaoise. Three 7-a-side teams were entered by the CBS and a total of 29 students travelled, demonstrating the high interest levels among our first years. Each team played three games and there were strong performances all round as our teams picked up wins against schools such as Mountrath CS, Knockbeg College and Heywood CS. The first year team will hope to continue this positive start to their year when they participate in another blitz during the coming weeks.
