Ploughing Championship- Buses will leave the school at 9am, please wear suitable clothing and footwear.Thank you to Ms.Egan for organising the event and hope you all have a lovely day without incident.. The following maybe of interest to some of you: House of Oireachtas Transition Year Work Experience Pilot Programme = successful candidates will have a week long placement in Kildare House or Leinster House. Soapbox Public Speaking Competition which consists of a three minute speech for or against the motion ’CLIMATE CHANGE IS NOT MY PROBLEM ‘ The presentation will be made at an event before a public audience and a panel of judges .Prizes are sponsored by the European Community Representation in Ireland and local members of the European Parliament. The national finals will be held in Dublin in November. Please contact me for further details on either of the above. A reminder to keep a check on the notice board outside my classroom for upcoming competitions etc. There will be a short assembly on Thursday morning at 9:15 in the GPA ,please bring your journals. 2nd year retreats will be happening as follows: Alpha-Tues 17th Sept Bravo - Wed 18th Sept Echo- Thurs 19th Sept Delta- Mon 23rd Sept Charlie - Wed 25th Sept Students will be called out over the intercom to leave class at 9.30 and will return to class at 3.30 so please have relevant material for those classes . If you still wish to part take in the retreats and have yet to pay your €5 please do so asap. Thank you.

The bus will be leaving at 9am sharp for the Nation Ploughing Championships in Fenagh tomorrow. We hope to be back for the busses at 4. Please dress appropriately. It could be wet under foot.

Our opening school year mass will take place in the parish church in Portlaoise tomorrow at 12. (Weather permitting). All parents, Guardians, family and friends welcome to join us.
Senior Rugby

Today the school showcased their new senior rugby jerseys sponsored by Rafters Cafe. Big thanks to Adam, Brian and Adrian for showing off the new gear. The school is delighted to be able to offer senior students the chance to play rugby for their school over the coming year. We wish them the best of luck and thank rafters for their support!
Debs 2020

The 2020 debs will take place on Thursday the 19th of August in the Bridge house hotel in Tullamore. If there are any 5th or 6th years interested in attending the 2020 debs please bring a NON refundable deposit of €20 to a member of the debs committee. Only fifth years who did TY are eligible to attend. The debs committee will be in Ms C. Brennan's room on Tuesday and Wednesday next week at lunch time from 1:15pm.

First year funday tomorrow!

Meitheal have organised a fun day for first years tomorrow the 13th. First year classes will be called down to the GPA in their class groups from 12:30pm onwards. Students can be collected from Portlaoise Leisure centre from 3:30pm. Students should bring: -swimming shorts and cap along with a towel. -Sports gear (shorts, runners, tracksuit, hoodie etc) for the Astro turf pitch
