Congratulations and well done to Patrick O'Callaghan, from the Heath NS, who is the winner of our 2019-20 First Year Scholarship. There was great interest in this prize which was open to all incoming first years. The selection was made on the results of an English and Maths Exam (2 hours) plus a strong sporting CV. Patrick will receive a school uniform from Shaws and an iPad/ebooks/printed books from Wriggle. We want to thank all 6th class lads and their parents who applied and sat the exam. And we wish Patrick and all his incoming class a very happy end to their last few weeks in primary school but hope they are looking forward to 5-6 great years in St Mary's CBS!

Some parents have been asking for the payment information for our schools 2020 skiing trip. The following payments are to be made to Halsbury Travel LTD. 1. €150 ​​Non-Refundable deposit by the 14th of December 2018 2. €200​​ -1st instalment by the 24th of May 2019 3. €395-​​2nd instalment before the 30th of November 2019 4. €40​​-To be given to Mr Walsh in the school a week before travel. This is for transfers to and from the airport in Ireland and for an additional evening activities in Italy. If parents/Guardians want, they can pay the full amount in one €745 instalment. South Leinsters Track & Field Day 2

Waterford Regional Track was the venue of the second day of South Leinster Athletics Champions. Although the weather was not ideal, CBS fellas did not disappoint! Highlights of the day was our Intermediate team who booked a place to Leinster finals finishing an impressive 2nd place. Leading the team from the gun was Daniel Ubesie, followed by Tobi Olaoye having a great run and Emmanual Abebe and Kevin Ogedegbe finishing off in style! Eoin Keenan had a busy day winning both Long Jump and Triple Jump. Kevin O managed to pick up 3rd place in the 100m final before his relay! Well done to all who competed today!

NUI Galway Law Summer School will take place on Thursday, 6 June, 2019. This is a free event open to TY and 5th Year students. Students who have expressed an interest in studying law are encouraged to attend! The Law Summer School classes are interactive with students learning about criminal law, private law and a variety of topical legal issues. It is a fun and productive way to learn about law and the exciting opportunities at NUI Galway such as study abroad and work placement. The Summer School will also give your students an insight into the law programmes offered at NUI Galway and the career pathways of our diverse law degrees. Awards Night

Our annual school awards night will take place on Thursday the 9th of May at 7pm. This is a highly anticipated night each year that gives us a chance to award Academic, Pastoral and Sporting excellence among our students. Attendance on the night is by invitation only. Students who have received an invitation are asked to wear their school uniform. Parents and Guardians are welcome to attend to celebrate their sons award/recognition. Guest speaker on the night is Munster rugby player JJ Hanrahan, while our distinguished past pupil is Ciaran Finlay. Refreshments will be provided on the night by our Parents Council. We are looking forward to an evening of celebrations!
