Parents Council AGM

This coming Wednesday, October 10th, the first meeting of our Parents Council will take place beginning at 7.30 pm. This will be the AGM. A Parents Council should be a very active part of school life, but ours has dwindled down to a few members in the last few years. New parents are needed. A vibrant Parents Council should be a place where parents can learn about issues close to their own family lives. With numbers to attend, speakers of interest to the parents themselves can be invited to speak or meet with parents. You can learn about the numerous initiatives coming down the line for your son and this school which the Department of Education have put in place. Education is changing rapidly and even those of us working in it have to work to keep up. These meetings can be a great souce of information for you. It is certainly not all about fund raising. Please consider joining and attending ours this Wed evening, if you haven't attended in years past. Thank you.

On Tuesday last TY A visited Dunmore Caves while TY B&C went on a tour of Kilkenny Castle and gardens. Both trips were very interesting and worthwhile.
On Tuesday next the 9th students be doing a 1916 Walking Tour in Dublin. The cost is €10 which includes the bus. Students must wear their school jacket and should bring a packed lunch.
On Friday 12th October a number of TY students together with members of the Student Council will be taking part in a sponsored sleep out in the school as behalf of Focus Ireland's annual fundraiser for the Homeless. Unfortunately we are all too well aware of the extent of this problem in our country and the tremendous work being done by organisations such as Focus Ireland .
Students have received their sponsored cards ,anyone who hasn't returned their permission slips can they do so as soon as possible.
The students will also be holding a bucket collection in the school on Friday .
