TY Sleep Out for Focus Ireland

Focus Ireland have sent out a general email that due to the stormy / very wet conditions forecast for tomorrow night that participants in the Shine A Light sleep out should have a Plan B in place .They suggest that a suitable hall, gym can be used. So, with that in mind, and obviously for health and safety reasons, we will be sleeping indoors in either the GPA or the Resource Area. As you appreciate we're lucky to have the option to move doors unlike the poor individuals who regularly have to face the elements.
Students should be at the school for 9pm and can be collected around 8am. Rafters are kindly subsiding breakfast rolls for all on Saturday morning and I'm sure we'll all be glad of those..!
Students should bring sleeping bags, warm clothing , some CDs, board games etc.
I 'd like to thank all those who have so generously donated to this very worthy cause.Students can return their sponsorship cards tomorrow or Monday.

There will be a meeting in the CBS on Monday evening, 15th October, at 7.30 pm for parents to take part in a discussion of the current Leaving Certificate and what changes parents like you would like to see take place in senior cycle in future years. The opinions of parents, students and teachers are being sought by the NCCA in order to bring about informed change in the current Senior Cycle model of curriculum and assessment. The opinions which are collected on this night will be forwarded to the ESRI to collate and use in future planning. We would really appreciate as many parents taking part in this as possible, especially if your son is in the junior cycle years. With current change in Junior cycle it is imperative that the Senior cycle is adapted asap to meet the new skill sets of the 2018 Junior Certificate. Please come along to the CBS on Monday night for 7.30. Thank you.

On Tuesday October 9th the the Ty group were entertained by 3 enthusiastic historians on a 90 minute walking tour of Dublin. The subject was the 1916 Rising. The tour included Trinity College, College Green which once housed the Irish Parliament, the Rosie Hackett bridge, Liberty Hall, the Abbey Theatre and ending at the iconic GPO on O’Connell Street. Facts and amusing anecdotes were the order of the day. It was an interactive experience for the boys and many interesting questions were debated.
As always the lads were a credit to home and school.
