Attendance is still very important

As we approach the end of the school year, sometimes students tend to come up with excuses as to why they need to stay at home. We have noticed the rise in absenteeism since Easter, which is damaging to both the student's learning and damaging to their life habits - attendance is required whether at school, college or in the workplace. Please do not allow your son to stay at home or provide notes for half days in the coming weeks. Sickness is valid, being tired or lazy is not. Your support is much appreciated in this important matter. Thank you.

A huge congratulations and thank you to the students and staff involved with our Amber Flag team for the amazing work they did last week! They work tirelessly all year round to look after the mental health of our whole school community and the special effort they put in last week for ‘Mental Health Week’ was extraordinary! They have raised huge awareness around the school community and finished the week by taking part in a sponsored hike to raise money for the @donalwalshlivelife foundation. Congratulations to Ms Hanevy, Ms Fahy and all involved! Keep up the great work. Take a look at their Facebook “St.Mary’s CBS Portlaoise Amber flag” to see some of the other great things they got up to! #mentalhealthawareness #amberflag #donalwalshlivelifefoundation
