As part of our SSE numeracy initiative our 2nd year students took part in an orienteering activity. The students were faced with a series of maths problems they had to solve to unlock the box and move on to the next stage. A big thank you to our TY's who were on hand at each station. Orienteering challenges students problem solving and teamwork skills. Well done all!

We have prepared a short video which sets out some very important information to candidates in relation to the completion of their examinations and we require schools' assistance in ensuring that the video is brought to the attention of candidates.   The video contains key messages for candidates including:

  • how they should provide key information on the front cover of their answer books that is essential to ensure their scripts are processed accurately and effectively;
  • and the correct writing instruments that they should use in the examinations to ensure examiners can read their complete scripts.

Massive congratulations to Transition Year student Cathal Ging who qualified for the Microsoft Office Specialist UK and Ireland Championship and had an amazing top 10 finish!
The championships took place in the Microsoft HQ in Dublin. Well done Cathal, amazing achievement!

TY's visit Solas Garden Centre for Food and Business Workshop

The Transition year business students travelled to Solas Garden Centre in Portarlington on Thursday for a food and business workshop. The students learned so much about necessary skills and knowledge to be a successful entrepreneur. They also learned about the importance of sustainability and recycling which allows us all to be more environmentally conscious . 
Finally they became skilled in making coffee and experts in creating their own pizzas (and eating them of course !) 
Camross Reading Challenge Winners!

Camross celebrated their winning record of over 10,000 minutes spent reading in the myON digital library app in March and April. They were worthy winners who had the lead the whole way through the challenge. A special call out to Adam who the boys say was their Star reading performer!! A great time was had by all and there wasn't a crumb left! 
Keep an eye out for lots more chances to win in our reading challenges next year & don't forget to get some summer reading in!
