At Goatstown ETSS we value kindness and respect as key pillars of our community.
We would ask that you remind your child that kindness and respectful behaviour extend to group chats that may be set up by students.
We know that we cannot stop group chats and we are aware that a phone is an important part of a teenager staying connected to other young people.
We will revisit the area of online etiquette and respectful communication in class at school. It would be helpful if parents can open similar conversations at home.
Best wishes

Update re First Year Vaccinations - 2nd round
Created : 21 Mar 2022, 4:34 PM
Archived : 24 Mar 2022, 12:00 AM
There have been some queries today on how soon after recovery from Covid can a child receive these vaccines.
Please see response below from the Senior Medical Officer of the HSE immunisation team.
"A child can be vaccinated after Covid infection, as long as they have completed their full 7 days of isolation and they are well.
That is, all children returning to school after the period of isolation can be vaccinated, unless they are feeling unwell."
Dr Mary Condon
For any child that is unwell, the HSE immunisation team will contact parent/guardian directly to set up appointment in the clinic at a later date.
Original Notice:
The HSE vaccination team will be coming to the school tomorrow Wednesday to complete the 2nd round of vaccinations i.e. HPV (Dose 2 of 2) and MenACWY (Dose 1 of 1).
Please ensure your child has a good breakfast and wears a short sleeved top. Please do contact the Year Coordinator, Clodagh Keane, if you feel your child might experience some anxiety around this process.

Third Year History and Art Trip to Berlin or Amsterdam
Created : 10 Mar 2022, 10:50 AM
Archived : 22 Mar 2022, 12:00 AM
Dear Parents, Guardians and Carers
The school is currently looking at the viability of organising a short trip (2 or 3 days) for Third Year only to either Berlin or Amsterdam next October. The focus of the trip would link to the content of Third Year history which includes World War II and the Cold War. There will also be an opportunity to engage with some of the outstanding Art galleries in Berlin or Amsterdam.
Before we bring a firm proposal to the Board of Management and to students and parents, we need to identify whether there is sufficient interest to warrant us working with a tour company in more detail. Notwithstanding the cost of the trip, Covid-19 and the security situation in Europe, please indicate your interest below. This is not a contract or commitment.
