Winter Assessments for Second Year will take place from Monday November 22nd to Friday November 26th. Please read the following carefully before looking at the attached tips for the winter assessments. 1. The attached assessment guidelines are intended to help students to prepare for their winter assessments. 2. It is important to note that not all content will have been covered yet. If in doubt, please suggest that your child talks to the relevant subject teacher. 3. We are providing this information in response to requests from families for details about what material students should focus on when they are studying. 4. This is not intended to be a terrifying list of content to be learnt. All of this material will have been covered and practised in class by the time the assessments take place. 5. To review material, it is suggested that students use study methods covered in student enrichment. If there are specific issues about how to review material, it is strongly suggested that students communicate with their subject teachers. 6. In Second Year, where a Classroom Based Assessment takes place in a specific subject, there won’t normally be a terminal assessment in the same term.

Covid Message

As winter colds and flu begin to circulate and with cases of Covid at very high rates in the community, we must renew our efforts to be vigilant. While the vaccines have been shown to be good at preventing serious illness, they do not seem to prevent everyone from catching and spreading COVID 19. We continue to wear masks, sanitise and socially distance as much as possible. We ask that if staff or students have any symptoms of COVID-19 that they stay at home and arrange a walk in PCR test here: covid19test.healthservice.ie/hse-self-referral/ The HSE PCR test is more sensitive at detecting COVID-19 than an antigen test. If students are awaiting results of COVID-19 tests but are able to work, teachers will post work from class in teams/onenote so they can keep up at home or catch up when they feel better.
