A quick reminder that you are encouraged to attend this evening's parent meeting to hear Jacinta Kitt talk about positive relationships in school and at home. Samantha Holman on our BOM will also facilitate the first steps in setting up a PSA. We have lots to get through so please be ready to start at 7pm sharp. Please work with us to ensure that as many families are represented by one parent/ guardian so that social distancing can be maintained. If there are additional spaces then it may be possible to have more than one parent/ guardian per family.

Please note that in a small number of cases student emergency contacts e.g. grandparents/family members may have received a text this morning with an invitation to access VSware.
Please be assured that this was immediately rectified and only parents/guardians have access to VSware. The system will not allow any other school contact to be set up and have access unless requested.
Apologies for any inconvenience this may have caused.

We are delighted to announce that the Parent/ Staff Association event for parents and teachers will go ahead in person in the hall in the Notre Dame building on Wednesday, September 29th at 7pm.
Social distancing of 2m must be maintained and a suitable face covering must be worn to gain access.
Jacinta Kitt will be our guest speaker. The second half of the event will be facilitated by Board member, Samantha Holman and she will aim to help you put in place the steps required to have a viable PSA.
We can have up to 100 people in the hall - if we miraculously reach that number then we may need to limit the number of parents to one per child.
VSWare: Settings have now been changed on VSWare to allow you see your child's attendance, behaviour and assessment information through the school app.

Additional Support Needs
Created : 06 Sep 2021, 9:18 AM
Archived : 20 Sep 2021, 1:00 AM
Please find attached a short guide about the support available to students with additional needs in our school. Some students may enter First Year with specific needs previously identified in primary school or outlined in a professional report. Other students may need additional support from time to time or just occasionally.
First Year students will do their Cognitive Ability Tests (CAT) on September 14th. There is no preparation needed for these tests whose sole purpose is to inform teaching and learning. The ASN department is currently working on support plans for students with an identified need. Withdrawal for some students individually or in small groups will commence once the prefabs are finished in the next 10 days or so. Support in the form of 'in-class' support or team teaching is up and running.
ASN Assistants (formerly known as SNAs) are allocated by the school on the basis of identified primary care needs. The school is currently engaged in a review process with the National Council for Special Education (NCSE) around an additional resource allocation to the school. Please contact mkennedy@goatstownetss.ie if you have questions about any aspect of provision of ASN supports.
