SCHOOL SAILING NATIONALS - MAX DILLON, 5TH YEAR

On Friday 29th of April, myself and 7 other students travelled to Dun Laoghaire to compete in the school sailing nationals. Unfortunately, conditions were un-sailable for the Munster competition, but happily we still qualified for the national event. Unfortunately, due to our "older" sailors studying for the leaving cert, we lost a lot of experience from the team, but nonetheless our younger sailors stepped up to the mark. Sailing was slow on Saturday due to light wind and we got off to a slow start. After a strong performance from third year student Andrew Kingston and fifth year student David Collins we got our first victory against St David’s College, followed by a second win against Scoil Chuimsitheach. That wrapped up the first day for Pres and confidence was good going into the second day. On Sunday conditions were much the same - light winds and rain as we started off our day with a victory coming in against St Andrews, this was a big win for us as we were definite under dogs. The rain really started falling then and moral was a little low after we were unlucky against Gaelcholaiste, Carrigaline, losing out on victory by a point. We finished the competition with a win against Scoil Mhuire with Max Dillon and Thomas o Mahony finishing first and Andrew Kingston and Olan Dillon second. Overall I couldn’t have been prouder of the lads - they really stepped up to the challenge and did the school proud. I’d also like to say a big thanks to Mr. Aiden Twomey who helped with the organisation of accommodation and registration and a massive thank you to Mr. John Kavanagh and Ms. Julie Mosher who travelled with us to Dublin, without their help none of this would have been possible.

Greetings for the Feast Day of Blessed Edmund Rice which occurs today.
The charism of Blessed Edmund, who founded the Presentation Brothers Congregation, remains at the very heart of all that we do in our school and his story is both an inspiration and a challenge to all of us who are privileged to be associated with this wonderful tradition.
The video (available at youtu.be/lD_5TOhibEo) will give you a good insight into the story of Blessed Edmund, the founder of our school. The Presentation Brothers' LEAF project and PBST have collaborated with our fellow PBST school, Colaiste Muire, Cobh, to put this video together.
Wishing you all a joyous Blessed Edmund feast day.
Thank you.
