Thirty- eight members of the concert band are currently in Chateau Gontier, in the Mayenne Department in north-western France. This trip which will see the school concert band perform in the beautiful “Theâtre Ursuline” has made a double connection with Chateau Gontier and Le Lycée Victor Hugo. Our school has for the past six years organised an excellent school exchange with this Lycée. Many of our band members have already attended classes in this school. Tomorrow, Sunday, 24th November, our concert band will be part of the concert which is renowned in the town. The band will perform on its own and will join the local concert band to perform two joint ensembles. Exciting times for our young musicians! This evening they will provide some traditional music and dance for our French hosts. The group is staying in the boarding school part of the lycée so this is another experience for the Coláiste Bhríde students and their teachers!
First year boys football report

There are 50 members of the First year boys football panel. On match days they are divided into two teams, Coláiste Bhríde Hops and Coláiste Bhríde Solos. Coláiste Bhríde Hops had an excellent win in the first round of the championship on the 20th of November. They beat St. Kevins community school Dunlavin on a scoreline of 2-17 to 1-2. This was an immense team performance and a true reflection of the hard work the boys are putting in. Coláiste Bhríde Solos had a tough battle with Arklow CBS on Friday 15th of November. They played extremely well, but unfortunately the result did not go their way. The lads showed great heart and gave it their all until the final whistle blew. Both teams are training so very well together as one panel. They have proven themselves to be quite talented on both occasions. We wish these lads well for the remainder of the season.
Colaiste Bhride Girls record big win in their Leinster League opener. Colaiste Bhride 8-0 Colaiste an Atha

The U17 Girls Soccer Team began their regional league campaign today with a fantastic win against Colaiste an Atha in Arklow. Despite being without a number of key players, the girls started the game at a ferocious pace and maintained this throughout the game. Switching to a 4-4-2 formation, Danielle Lambe joined Hannah Redmond up front and this allowed the forward players to constantly pressure the Kilmuckridge defenders. Assisted by the dominant pairing of Anna Lalor and Captain Zoe Katus in midfield, the opposition found it very difficult to build up sustained pressure. The deadlock was broken by Laci-Jane Shannon who, after going close numerous times, eventually beat the keeper with a well placed shot. Despite the score line, it should be noted that the opposition keeper pulled off numerous excellent saves, including a certain goal from a Hannah Redmond free kick. It took a long time for Carnew to add a second, but eventually some strong running from Zoe led to a gap opening in the defence and she increased the girls’ lead. The third goal, which closed out the half, came from a moment of genius from Anna Lalor. Receiving the ball with her back to goal, some quick feet left 4 of the Kilmuckridge defenders wondering what had happened and Anna with a clear run at goal. She duly obliged and fired a low shot past the keeper to make it 3-0. The story of the second half was Carnew refusing to let up on the intensity. They kept pushing to the very end and further goals from Hannah Redmond, Sheana Carroll, Lucy Kemple, Eimear O’Brien and a second from Laci-Jane completed the scoring. Eimear had previously been denied by the keeper when a bullet header from a corner was saved well, but she had decided she wanted a goal today. From another corner late on she proved stronger than her defender, powering the ball home. This was an excellent performance from the girls and a strong start to the league. The entire squad got plenty of time on the field and there were strong debuts for several players, including Siobhan Mulhall and Aine Doran. They now face games against Creagh College and Colaiste Abbain in an attempt to reach the regional final. Player of the Match was closely contested today as there were many strong performances, but ultimately Anna Lalor was given the nod after a superb performance in the centre of midfield. Not only did she demonstrate incredible ball control and score a vital goal, she never neglected her defensive duties and worked in tandem with Zoe Katus to dominate the middle of the park. We want to thank Colaiste an Atha for a great game and wish them well in their future games.
