The opportunity of a young person to engage in a particular career that they hope to pursue after their third level studies is an opportunity to see first hand how the world of work operates. One hundred and thirty innovative, enterprising and ambitious TY students undertook work experience that reflected their career aspirations. Our transition year students scaled many heights on their work experience placements. They volunteered to the needy, catalogued books, audited accounts, administered prescriptions, work shadowed surgical procedures, nursed the sick, taught the young, listened to the needy, protected the locality, massaged the aches, wrote computer programs, designed houses, interior designed mansions, concocted medicines, assisted vets, engineered the future, beautified the vain to name but a few. Many students also availed of doing additional work experience over the mid term break.
We are indebted to all the professionals who gave their time to our TY students. Students travelled both locally and nationally and one student was fortunate to travel to the USA. Students were given meaning to their career aspirations. For the foreseeable future there will be a large group of TY students seeking work experience and we are indebted to professionals both locally and afar who so willingly work with our students. Hopefully the TY students were inspired and gained a positive insight to the working world of 2025 and this will aid them on a possible career direction for 2027!
Well done everyone.
Ms. Drummond
Well done to Ms Rothwell’s 5th year business class, team name ‘Diary of a business kid’ who were the overall winners of our World Book Day school quiz. The team scored an impressive 48/50. The most inventive team name went to Mr Hegarty’s 5th year class with their team name ‘Mr Hegarty’s chamber of T squares’. Abigail Stafford, Zoe Evans and Arianna Hackett were the winners of the ‘Caught Reading’ competition.
All activities today were organised by our wonderful ‘Rather be Reading’ class who started the day off by welcoming students from All Saints NS’ to the library for a quiz they had created. The quiz was great fun and our students really enjoyed working with the primary school pupils.
Thank you to everyone for their enthusiastic participation.

Lots happening over the coming days, stay tuned for updates!
The first of our first year Maths Problem Solving Relays kicked off today with a great sense of excitement and competition. Each base class was well represented by a team of 4 (coordinated by Meitheal leaders) and really pulled together to work through each of six problems.
They demonstrated great team spirit and problem-solving abilities.
The victory went to 1 Beech today, who were the overall winners and secured 3 points for their base class.
1 Elm came in second place, achieving two points for their class, while 1 Ash came in third, gaining one point.
This will continue every Thursday over six weeks with a new team of four from each base class every week. The base class with the most points at the end of the 6 weeks will be crowned the problem-solving champions in first year for 2025.
Thanks to the Meitheal Leaders, 4th and 5th year students for their assistance in running this fun initiative.
A fitting victory for “Women in Sports” week as our U14 Ladies football team got off to a flying start today with a 12-11 to 6-4 win against Coláiste Bríde Enniscorthy today. Captained by Sophie O’Loughlin the girls got ahead from the whistle with goals from Grace Doyle, Sophie and Niamh Tomkins. Our centre back and full back line of Abbey Finnerty, Mya Tobin, Tara Byrne and Aoibhe Doran were disciplined and kept Coláiste Bríde Enniscorthy to a score of 2 points in the first half. Saves from Ruby Dixon kept the girls in the game in the second half with more scores from Georgia Horan and Róisín Doyle. The girls play Loreto Wexford in the next group game. Well done girls coaches Ms O Neill and Ms Jacob!!
