The U14 girls had a great win on Wednesday against Gorey Community School. The girls started strong and were up by 2 points at half time. Gorey were a very competitive side, but the girls came out on top with a win of 5-6 to 3-6. Scores from Keily, Sophie, Georgia and Roisin saw us cross the line. Well done girls on another great win!
Well done to our boys football team who beat CCA Kilcoole on Friday to reach the Wicklow A final.
The semi final was played in calm but damp conditions in Ballinakill, making ball handling difficult. Although dominant in the opening half Colaiste Bhride were sloppy in possession. However some well taken scores gave us a good lead of 3-7 to 1-1 at half time.
The Carnew side pushed on in the second half and created good scoring opportunities. Our backs had to be alert as Kilcoole's forwards looked dangerous when they broke out. Indeed two quick fire goals brought them back within touching distance. The Carnew boys got back on top however and controlled the last fifteen minutes, eventually winning on a scoreline of 7-10 to 3-2.
Well done to this determined bunch of young men. They will play St Kevin's Dunlavin after Easter in the final.
We wish them luck next week also as they face St Pat's Navan in a Leinster hurling semi final on Tuesday in Bray.
Coláiste Bhríde Carnew 0-11
Coláiste Bhríde Enniscorthy 0-5
Coláiste Bhríde Carnew second year camogie team had a hard fought victory over their Enniscorthy counterparts today.
The Enniscorthy side travelled to Carnew to good spirits to try spoil Carnews advancement to the knockout stages.
Carnew lead 0-06 to 0-2 at the break after playing up the hill and into the breeze.
The second half continued to be as physical and hard fought as the first but the Carnew ladies continued to keep the score board ticking over to run out comfortable 6 point winners.
As part of the LCVP course 5th year students completed a visit out to local business Carnew Mart.
They had a very informative talk about both Carnew Mart and Quinn Property from owners; Eilish, David and Jack Quinn.
Coláiste Bhríde Carnew’s Transition Year students embarked on an unforgettable four-day trip to Killary Adventure Centre in Co. Galway this week. This action-packed experience pushed them outside their comfort zones, helping them develop essential life skills while making new friendships and lasting memories.
Throughout the trip, students took part in a variety of outdoor activities, including stand-up paddleboarding, high ropes, gorge walking, rock climbing and more. These challenges tested their resilience, teamwork, and problem-solving skills. Many faced fears of heights and deep water but showed great determination and support for one another, encouraging eachother every step of the way.
Being away from home, the students learned independence and responsibility while strengthening friendships. They bonded over campfire sing songs, team challenges, and shared experiences, making this trip a highlight of their year so far. The instructors at Killary praised the group for their excellent manners, respect, and willingness to participate. Their positive attitude and enthusiasm made the experience enjoyable for everyone.
This trip was not just about adventure but also personal growth. Students returned home with greater confidence, new skills, and cherished memories. It was a truly rewarding experience that will stay with them for years to come.
Congratulations to the Ethos ambassadors and Ms. Elliott for coordinating an engaging and insightful ETB Ethos Week!
The events concluded with the announcement of the poster competition winners - celebrating the ETB core values.
Additionally, students' thoughtful reflections on these values are beautifully displayed and will remain on show in the coming weeks.
To top it off, school staff enjoyed a delightful treat of homemade baked goods at lunchtime today. Well done to all involved!
