For the attention of TY & 5th year students
Some medical students have come together to offer a free zoom conference to hopefully bridge, what some feel is the inaccessibility to study medicine. On April 12th at 7pm they will be holding a seminar in which they will talk about :
How to get into medicine in Ireland with a database of free resources
Financial support for students who wish to study medicine but may not have the means to do so.
Information on the HPAT exam, including resources, courses and study tips.
What to do if you don’t get into medicine on your first application.
The link to register for the event is:
www.eventbrite.ie/e/becoming-a-medic-101-registration-148678763183?aff=Emails
The idea behind this talk is to encourage students interested in studying medicine, and to give them support in a time where they may feel overwhelmed and anxious.

Please look at screenshots attached to see where the form for your son can be found. Two ways to access form:
If you go in through Consent Form (on the red page) click this and you will see a white page with the form for the year group which your son(s) are in.
OR
If you look at the Notifications page, you will see the Attention Please in the grey space at bottom of this window. Click on this and you will be brought to the Consent Form page, as described above.
Click on the title of Form , complete by ticking the boxes, sign digitally and Submit. If you have another son, repeat process for their form.
If another parent/guardian also has the app, they will also receive the same Consent Forms. However, once a form has been submitted, it will grey out or disappear from the other parent/guardian’s app. So it can only be submitted once per student.
Please do so by Monday morning, before your son leaves for school. You can appreciate that this is one of the many precautions we will be closely following to ensure the safety of all our students and staff. We appreciate the support of all parents/guardians and students during the last term of school. It is our hope that once we begin on Monday April 12th, all students will continue classes and learning until the end of May, uninterrupted and in good health. Thank you.

A GUIDE TO ACCREDITED GRADES FOR OUT OF SCHOOL SUBJECTS AND LEARNERS
Created : 29 Mar 2021, 4:47 PM
Archived : 29 May 2021, 12:00 AM
Hello parents and 6th year students,
We are constantly receiving documents and then updated documents about various aspects of the Accredited Grades and both the LC and JC Exams. They are mind boggling for schools let alone the students and parents, but we must share them for everyone's information. Unless it is definitely relevant to your son, please ignore, or it will only raise more unnecessary questions than answers. This one is quite specific to those doing subjects outside of school for the LC.
The Orals begin tomorrow, the information relevant to those students was put on this app on Saturday. We wish you and your families a break from the school timetable and constant mask wearing for these 2 weeks. You need and deserve that.
Also please keep in mind that any form of socialising is considered risk taking in relation to Covid. Please just say no to gatherings and groups, in or out of doors. There is no guarantee that the seated LC can take place if we have another wave, and those not planning to sit the exams, please take this into consideration for your peers - young and old have to consider the very big picture here. Relax, enjoy the free time, do communicate with friends etc, but not in shared space, stay in the family bubble which is the key to keeping us all safe.
Happy Easter!

LC students sitting their SEC Oral examinations next week, please take note of the following:
• Irish oral exams will take place on Tuesday 30th March and French/Spanish oral exams will take place on Thursday 1st April.
• Punctuality: The timetable for your oral exams will be posted this week. It is your responsibility to check the time of your exam in advance and to arrive early. Please allow 15 minutes prior to the start of your exam.
• Attendance: You must sign the SEC attendance roll upon entering the school. The examination aide, Mr Dunne, will have this roll and will be in the GPA. Remember to bring your own pen to sign the roll.
• Proceed directly to your exam centre (your teacher’s classroom).
• Wait outside the exam centre until called by the examiner. Please be respectful of fellow students. Sit quietly. Maintain social distancing. Do not look through the classroom door.
• Upon entering the exam centre, you will be asked to sign the examiner’s roll. Take assigned seat.
• Please make every effort to answer fully, clearly and to the best of your ability. This is your opportunity to highlight your hard work and preparation.
• Your oral exam will be recorded from the moment you enter the room until you exit. This is a state exam. Under no circumstances are mobile phones or any recording device allowed into the exam. Leave your phone outside the centre.
• Picture stories/Role plays will be provided to you for the Irish/Spanish oral exams.
• We wish you all the very best of luck next week.
