TY for next year - Information Evening

This notice is to give you advance notice of our Information Evening, on Microsoft Teams, for parents/guardians of the current 3rd year group. Mr Cahillane, our TY Coordinator, will make a presentation for interested parents on Thursday 25th February at 7pm. Students would normally have this presentation made to them during school time, this year students should also listen and watch this presentation at the same time as their parents. Application Forms will then be available online for completion and the closing date for completed Application Forms will be Thursday 4th March at 4pm. The same presentation will be available, for your information, on the school app and website if parents are unavailable on that night. Further information will be provided by Mr Cahillane on Microsoft Teams when school resumes after the Midterm Break. Thank you.

On behalf of the Management and Staff of our school, we want to say a big thank you to all parents, guardians and students who have worked so hard since we began remote learning on January 11th. We know it was not easy to get the lads out of bed,... to go no where! Nor was it easy to have a few of them looking for peace and quiet, for devices, for WIFI signal and you, meanwhile, looking for the same to get your own work done But you did. We all worked together to keep the lads on track and hopefully it won't be for much longer. Have a well deserved and relaxing ten days 'off screen'. Keep well.

DigiWiz - TY Robotics Workshop

On Tuesday our TY students got the opportunity to work with DigiWiz and build a DIY Remote Controlled Walking Dog! Students had a DIY package posted to their homes and then engaged in an online workshop with DigiWiz instructors. For most of the students this was their first taster in working with Robotics, but the positive feedback has ensured we will look to have more Robotics workshops available in the calendar year. Hopefully we will get to do the next one in person and organise a race for those who think they have what it takes! Well done lads! How it works: When the button on the wire control box is pressed down, the motor will be electrified and rotate. It drives four rockers to rotate through a set of gear reducing mechanisms, making the dog’s leg move forward alternately. The wire control box changes the output’s positive and negative anode via two buttons. It controls the motor’s direction of rotation with changing of electricity’s direction, thus controlling the dog’s advance and retreat.

We have added the Careers Portal to our school website. The icon can be found on the top right of the Home Page.YOu may also click on the Students' Tab, under Guidance and Support. All students in Senior Cycle, and indeed even a 3rd year or TY student in choosing their Senior subjects can check out the best subjects for certain career paths and the variety of courses in the area they are considering. The information available in one spot is endless.
