Portal Dates

Closes Tuesday 16th March at 6pm
Creating an Account
You will need:
Your PPS number
Your Exam Number – already given out in school
What will I see?
The portal will show the subjects you are currently registered for in school and the level you are currently registered for.
As well as confirming your LC subjects you will need to ensure THE LEVEL you are entered in for in EACH subject is correct.
You should also add in additional subjects being studied outside school – Russian, Polish etc. at this time.
What do I need to do?
For each subject choose A or B
A Accredited Grade
B Accredited Grade and Exam
Do not forget to enter a choice for a subject you may be studying outside of school.
NB: The safest option is to opt for Exam and Accredited in everything now and withdraw from any exams you do not wish to sit in April.
Can I change my mind?
The portal will reopen in late April
You are allowed to withdraw from the Exam option but you will NOT be able to select an Exam at this stage.
Can I change Levels?
Accredited Grades: Final levels for Accredited Grades to be entered in the Portal in April
LC Exam: Can change levels on the day of the Exam.
Coursework
Coursework includes project work, orals and practical which usually count for a % of your grade. (Booklet: History, Geography, Economics, Project: Construction, Tech, Engineering).
If you choose to sit any exam you must submit the relevant coursework or you will lose all the of the marks allocated to it.
It is safest to complete all coursework to keep options open.
What will my results look like?
Results will be issued in the late summer in time for CAO and UCAS.
Your results will have the highest result you achieved and will not say if it was from Accredited Grades or the LC Exam.
Please get in contact with one of the guidance counsellors if you need assistance with this process.

Guide to Leaving Certificate & Accredited Grades Short Info for Students & Parents

The following letter was sent to us this morning, along with the attached guides to using the LC Portal...
Dear Principal
As outlined in Circular 07/21 for 2021, the State Examinations Commission (SEC) has introduced a facility to allow Leaving Certificate candidates to confirm their subject and level entry details online through the Candidate Self Service Portal, and to indicate whether they want to take the examinations, or to receive SEC Accredited Grades, or both.
The Candidate Self Service Portal (CSSP) is a service provided by the State Examinations Commission (SEC) and the Department of Education for 6th year candidates entered for the 2021 Leaving Certificate.
Information will be provided in due course to schools about Year 1 Leaving Certificate Applied candidates (5th years). They are not included on the portal as this is not the final year of the programme and their information will be gathered directly from their school.
The Candidate portal will open at 12 Noon on Wednesday 10 March and close at 6 pm on Tuesday 16 March.
The Leaving Certificate Candidate Self Service Portal (CSSP) can be accessed at www.examinations.ie or www.gov.ie/LeavingCertificate. Click on ‘Leaving Certificate Candidate Self Service Portal (CSSP) 2021’.
To assist Candidates the SEC has prepared a step by step ‘Before You Start Guide’ which is attached, and we are requesting your assistance in ensuring all candidates have read this Guide and the important information before they commence the registration process on the Candidate Self Service Portal.
The ‘Before you Start Guide’ updates the information provided in Circular 7/21 regarding candidates confirming that they want to sit examinations after the 16 March. Note please that it will be possible for candidates to update their choices at the end of April/early May to include indicating that they want to take an examination in a subject which they had opted out of taking. However, there are limitations on this choice as by the time the portal reopens candidates will have lost the opportunity to take any of the related assessment components in multi-component subjects.
Please see attached, Leaving Certificate Short Information For Students, Parents and Guardians.
Yours sincerely,
Majella Smyth
